Just playin' Greg... if I had to buy one for my personal use, I would let my wallet dictate my choice.

Just for posterity, the Bosch # on the two I have on the bench is 0 280 140 515. Are they really $400 now? I paid $223 for a new one in 9/06, hard to believe they doubled in 3 years, but I suppose anything's possible.
I have no idea whether a $139 ISV = a $400 ISV minus the pretty yellow box. I would certainly hope so, but I'm left thinking about the cheap 'Bosch' Fuel pumps that Mark A warned us about:

I know the ISV's in question have a Bosch # on them, but given the Chinese penchant for respecting intellectual property rights, how hard could it be to fake the sticker on the part?

That is a real possibility.

This part comes from Autozone who regardless of what we buy there, most of their stuff isnt stuff i would put on my Porsche but i can be certain that they did not buy parts from a Chinese source, that would be a huge lawsuit and that would NEVER happen. If im wrong i would be the first in line for a Class Action Lawsuit. Greg, if you believe it so strongly, please let me know where to sign up and im there.
Conspiracy theorists please have at it!

Talk about tempest in a teapot...
I was at Rob's, as was Luan. I mentioned that I still had the intake project to get onto my calendar. He asked if I had picked up a new ISV. I'm in the Roger camp on these, and generally try cleaning the one that's in there working fine before dropping $400 on a new one. He mentioned that he had found his at Autozone online for that low price mentioned. I asked him to share the info he had. The post probably could have been a PM, and saved some folks the finger action in commenting. Yes, this has been hashed over before. Yes, it is a part with a Bosch part number in a yellow Bosch box with the logo on it. Yes, I will be getting one. Yes, there is a chance that it is in fact a cheap knock-off of the original part. There's also the risk that -I- am a cheap knock-off of the original. It took me a while to polish my accent, especially critical when typing on the support forums. Those with a discerning eye may pick up on the cheap Chinese legs sticking out of the cheap Chinese cargo shorts in the work pictures. If that's not proof I don't know what is. I had to color my cheap wig to white to throw off the knock-off dogs too. Worked OK until today, but now my cover is blown.

I hope it is a real Bosch part and works well for you.

Not to add gasoline to an ongoing fire...but...as far as I have been able to find out, many of the engine management parts sold at AutoZone for the 928, are made by Wells Manufacturing out of Fond du Lac, WI. They've been around since 1903.

Nobody is saying they are bad and can agree with the post above. I had a $5 thermostat in my 944 and that thing lasted the whole time till I got rid of the car. Just an example.
They also sell water pumps but who knows what those are like....
