Where is it? The great spreadsheet that spawned this thread?
Enquiring minds want to know, even mine.

I have it. I like it as it already has Glen's euro power and torque curves in it. so, any test you want to do based on his engine performance and wheel sizes, you can do. Now, How do you post an excel spread sheet? PM me with your email and Ill send it to you .
Now, Glen, I ran the numbers again and just dont see your point. I see mine, but not yours.

Hey all.
You put in raw facts like weight, gears, dyno readings, Cd and so on and it'll compute speeds, distance, and the way the oil sloshes in the sump. And it creates pretty graphs because, after all, if there aren't pictures it's no fun to talk about. It does not well model launches where the tires are spinning.
PM me if you want a copy.
Mark doesn't see my point because he's not looking at it. It's true that the advantage is all situational. (And I said that.) The 3.09 (or any shorter rear end) will totally own any situation where that car can use first gear. Mark discounts all that as he's not interested in those speeds. Other people are and the general case is what I was talking about. This should have been clear with my initial example of a 5 to 140 MPH romp.
To other people's comments:
A 2.64 differential is sub-optimal in all ways.
There's a list of tranny's by year with drive ratios at the 928 Specialists website.
Amsoil will lower your wallet weight, but not the ratio.
Horses are eaten in most of the world and, ironically, in Italy where The Prancing Horse is a national icon.
How did Lizard find my GF's pic?

FINALLY, you actually are clear in saying that it is "Situational".
Now as far as"owning" , that will also depend on traction and driver skill, which are HUGE variables. So, thats why I like using speeds we actually see.
Now, at 5mph, you are still in wheel spinning and traction speed, so why even talk about it. 25 to 40mph is key, as you are already hooked up, for the most part and you can see the trade offs are clear. (as I plugged the values for 25 and 40mph into your calculator.)
So , it sounds like we are in agreement. Thats nice!![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
