Default Process for Properly Checking CR Bearings, main Bearlings

Folks; Regarding my recent above-idle oil pressure issues. After checking/replacing every possible external oil pressure valve and certifying the gauge and sender, I've resolved that I need to drop the oil pan (again ). I will replace the oil pickup tube seal and check the connecting rod bearings. Can the mains be checked with the crank in place? I'm looking to know if there are guides to the sequences involved in the removal, inspection and re-installation of the connecting rod (and maybe) main bearings. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

you cant check the mains unless the engine is out,
The crank is captured between a girdle and the block

Only cranks front back movement. All other checks require block split.

Thanks....that stands to reason then.

Regarding the conn rod bearings....I know that new nuts should be used and torqued. But if I understand correctly, there may be a sequencing involved in the order in which the conn rod bearings are removed, re-installed? Or is it just a mater of removing *one bearing at a time*, inspecting, lubing, reinstalling and torquing each bearing with new nuts? Is there any subtle procedure that should not be overlooked?

There is no sequence to remove Con rod end caps to check the bearings. just 2 at a time!
The sequence techniques are reserved for the crank assembly into the two block halves and the heads.

Just make sure the cap goes back on in the same direction!

Is the bearing integrated with the cap? or underneath the cap?

Bearing caps/rods have the numbers stamped on the ends. Be sure the numbers "mate" to the ends/correct rods.
Also get a piece of rubber tubing for the studs. Once the nuts are off slip the rubber tubing on the ends so you can move the rod/piston with out scoring the crank.
As far as I know there is no particular order in which to remove/replace the bearings.
Do keep track of the old bearings 2/6 as to wear.
You may also want to remove the spark plugs in order to make it easier to rotate the crank by hand.
Might also want to double check the bearings W/ plasticgauge before buttoning things up.
