Cheryl, it's Cameron's old car. Here is the RL link if it works. http://forums.rennlist.com/ IF not just search Cameron '91 GT for sale.
See you at OCIC if I get it running.

Glad you finally took our advice and got this car. It's only been 2 weeks of phone calls. :P

Thanks, Chuck! Unfortunately, we won't get home until the 26th or thereabouts. Randy's a little old to make another trip so soon so maybe you guys will make do with just me and my screamin' hot GTS.

With the two GTS', James might be able to have both of his out there. I'm not sure the '92 will be good to go though by the time OCIC rolls around though.

I'm a bit jealous, as I was hoping Joe's car would still be available by the time I got back from this deployment. Ah well, it looks like it's going to a very deserving family!
Best,
Cheryl

Cheryl - here's my suggestion for the trip here:
After El Paso, I'd stay on 10 and stop in Palm Springs to see the Air Museum http://www.palmspringsairmuseum.org/.
Then I'd head to LA and stop at Petersen Auto Museum http://www.petersen.org/.
Looks like 10 turns in to Highway 1 in Santa Monica. Run 1 through Malibu until it connects to 101. I'm not an LA area expert, but I'd bet the SoCal folks have lot's of ideas...
101 and 1 share the road for awhile...
Stay on 101 through Pismo Beach and into San Luis Obispo where my youngest daughter is attending Cal Poly. Downtown San Luis Obispo is nice.
Take Highway 1 out of San Luis Obispo, stop in San Simeon for Hearst Castle tour http://hearstcastle.com/.
Continue Highway 1 to Big Sur http://www.bigsurcalifornia.org/scenic_byways.html and find a nice place to enjoy the beauty.
Continue on 1, stop in downtown Carmel for food http://www.ilfornaio.com/?page=138&restaurant_id=3145.
On to Monterey for a tour of the Monterey Bay Aquarium http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/. If you're still hungry, then there's http://www.cibo.com/. Cannery Row is a neat place http://www.canneryrow.com/.
Back on Highway 1 to Santa Cruz http://www.beachboardwalk.com/.
Take Highway 17 to Scott's Valley and spend the night. You know where...
Down 17 into the Pit as the mountain folks call the Bay Area.
Take Highway 85 towards Mountain View/Sunnyvale.
Exit at Fremont Ave, turn right, immediate left lane, left onto Bernardo, right onto Susan Way. House is the the one with the hot 928 in the driveway.
Have a nice trip.

We found a new home for our '94 911 convertible . Joe Dyer's agreed to take her in and give her a good home. In exchange, we have the pleasure of driving home in his beautiful super charged GTS.
What roads and attractions can you recommend for the three legs of our journey? We would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,

Seen the Grand Canyon yet? If not, don't miss the opportunity again. Is your '94 water cooled? If you take the Grand Canyon route, pass through Vegas, and take the Death Valley route. Its worth seeing such a grand desolation. Pass through Pahrump, then Shoshone where you'll find some quite decent biker restaurants. Head up north through Death Valley (yes, there are places to fuel and rest up, such as Stovepipe Wells). Head west on 190 and north on 395 and into Independence, Calif. Take in the view of the Sierra-Nevadas, and Mt Williamson, and stop into the "Still Life", a great French Restaurant in the middle of this one-horse town. Drive north through (take your pick), the Sequoia Nat Park, the Eldorado Nat Forest, the Yosemite Nat Park, and due west to San Jose. There a few nail biters between premium fuel stations, but fill up every opportunity through the deserts and forests. Good luck! Oh, just for reference, some of the things you might take in are on my trip web site: http://homepage.mac.com/mjpate/PhotoAlbum1.html

Don't worry about the desert and air cooled 911s; my modded 914/6 made it through Death Valley like a breeze with no problems whatsoever, and it was HOT that day. Nicole works in Sunnyvale, and I haunt Sunnyvale as well. Let's have a party and get some other 928ers to party with us. What say you Nicole?

Hi Michael. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. We will be coming in on I-10 and I don't think there are any significant deserts on that route. We'll be crossing the desert(s) in the 928 so we shouldn't have anything to worry about. Even so, thanks for thinking of us!
Hi Ron;
It's been a while since we've chatted on Rennlist. We would love to have a get together with the California crew while in the area. However, we haven't made a firm schedule with Joe for reviewing all the materials and cars when we do the trade. I'll contact him tonite and try to firm up a schedule. Saturday will probably be the day we can see everyone but I'll post a more informative schedule, hopefully tomorrow. We'll be in touch and thanks for the invite!

I tremble to think about I-10 and the sand in Arizona and California before Blythe. My 928 had been almost pristine in the front until one trip across I-10 after the Florida Parade. Then it appeared sand blasted. I would put a bra or some 3M protective film on the car before doing that trip.
