Goodbye
It's been over a year since I've shown my face here or at any Nor Cal 928 events, but I just wanted to stop by to say goodbye. For health reasons, I had to sell my 928 a couple weeks ago. It was a wonderful 7-year run, and I really appreciated the camaraderie and guidance of my fellow shark-lovers. The proud new owner of my '84 5-speed is a local Bay Area guy, so the car may yet show up at another SITP, even if I don't.

Jessa,
Very sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope you recover from them without any complications.
I'm also sorry to hear you had to sell your 928, it was a beautiful car. I'll miss you and look forward to
seeing you again after this all passes.
I'm sure we'll all miss you until then.

I'm sorry you are not feeling well. I hope it didn't force the sale of your 928, but if it did... I'm sure it was necessary. I know we haven't spoke in a while, but if you need to sell those rear hatch interior pieces, I will buy them from you. I'm not trying to be a vulture, mainly just asking if I could help out.... in my weird sortof way,
I hope you get better... please stop by anytime.

Don't leave once a friend always a friend. The shark is only the path way to the friendship. When the shark is gone the friendship still remains.

Say it ain't so, Jessa! I have been wondering why we haven't heard or seen anything of you lately, and just thought you were busy with house, work, and husband.
Whatever your health issues are - I hope you get better soon! And remember that shark ownership is not required to come to our events. There are always seats available to ride, and you can always "hang" with us.
Hope to see you again soon!

Thanks everybody!
Don't worry - I'm not on death's door or anything. Just some joint trouble that made the clutch unmanageable. Since my other car - late model Audi - is also manual, I was basically stuck with nothing to drive. My mother-in-law's car is nice, but borrowing it to get to work is hardly a long-term solution. But before that was even an issue, I'd been busy enough with the house and other stuff that wasn't much time to drive it for just fun (my commute is usually boring and traffic-laden) or tinker. The 928 budget had shrunk to maintenance-only in the face of other priorities, so the "restoration, one inch at time" project was already on hold. It was all these factors converging that lead me to let go, rather than wait things out.
I may get another 928 down the road sometime. I even considered looking for an automatic, but when I thought about all the time it takes to find just the right car, and the extra up-front money to deal with whatever it will need right away (I could never afford a cherry one, so it's pretty much a given) I realized that now is not the right time.
Not long after selling the shark, I happened upon a very clean 1980 450SLC with about 150k on it. It's comfy, stylish, automatic, and it's cheaper and easier to work on. Not even in the same league as the 928's performance, but it cruises real nice with the windows down. For the time being, it's just the right car. In future, who knows?

Sounds like you found just what you need for now. Please don't let your lack of a 928 keep you from dropping in on the occasional event here and there. It would be nice to see the two of you again!

Sorry to hear this, as Nicole mentioned we missed you guys at Sharks in the park. Glad to see it is not a major health issue.
A couple of Sharks in the park's ago I was behind you on the "Fun run" and you were not afraid to "exercise" the loud pedal, it was a great run. Sorry to see that part of 928 ownership end for you.
When the time is right I hope you find another car as nice as "the old one"

Get well, guy. A year ago I thought I was going to experience the "big one" but all's fine now and I regret having sold two of my sports cars. I'm hanging on to the others. Take care. I hope you keep us posted. Having owned and loved a 928 you're family, you know. The best of luck to you.
