Interior swap issue #2...
For this thread, I have encountered a fitting issue with the interior quarter panels.
The '88 I started with has the large low range speaker in the forward location on the panel and the smaller mid/high range speaker all the way to the rear of the panel.
The '91 I am installing into the '88 has 3 speakers vs. the 2 on the '88. The low range speaker appears to be in the same location. The rearward mid/high range has been replace with 2 separate mid & high speakers located forward closer to the low range.
Question: I can see the underlying insulation on the panel and the body are different, but for a '91 -were there holes or depressions in the steel that would allow the speakers to rest in? Even after trimming the excess insulation away, I am still having issues getting it to fit right.
Advice?

Hi Barry,
I have done this a few times (my 85 euro has those in it now) and don't recall any issues. If it will help I can take a pic of a 90 parts car here so you can see how the insulation and/or if there are additional holes.

Dave, that'd be great!
Hey... when did you get a '90 parts car?!? At SITM, you only had 4 OBs to pick through
I'm almost certain there is a molded-in depression for the back speaker on my '88... so I would assume there are depressions for the relocated speakers in the latest models. A pic of the metalwork would be great (if you don't care about ripping out the insulation)!

Hi Barry,
You need glasses, you must have missed the 90 (red on the back row), the 89GT (hidden in back), 85, 86.5. Plus truck loads of used parts from all years hidden in back. In 20 years of working with 928s you tend to pile up a few extra bits. :-)
BTW, no problem on the insulation, can even rip off the recessed areas for you if you want them for a template.

Well, it was getting dark fast and I had a 3rd degree sunburn on my shaved head.... I think I recall seeing a red one, but come to think about it, I don't remember much about the drive home that night!
