Default Front Upper Track Control Arm

Ok, need some assistance.... I'm looking at a front upper control arm with part # 92834145822. That number comes up no where!!! At least not in the 4 sources I've checked. There is also a "79" date stamp on it. So I figure it's for 78-80 at least, but wanted to see if anyone can confirm any details.... was it an option? Euro? HongKong version? Any input would be great!

Also, the part # shown in the PET PDF from Porsche for a 79 is 92834102733... maybe it's just superseded?

Thanks in advance,
-The Sharkologist (in training)

I'm assuming you are looking at the part number on a sub assembly like the steel pivot. The arm is sold as an assembly but you will not find that number on it anywhere. We have both new and rebuilt arms available.

Thanks for the info Mark I also came across 1 with a different number, but can't find a date stamp on it... Since the part# for the complete assembly won't be on the part anywhere, how can I identify what year that came off of? Can anyone tell me anything about when any of the suspension components change throughout the years, or what to look for? Again, any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
-TS

Nevermind... I found a few late model control arms that I had labeled the year upon removal (...genius), and was able to match them up with the 1 unkown I had. Still interested in info anyone might have on the subject. Thanks again!

Some parts come with "casting numbers" that are not found in the PET.

Thanks for bringing that up. Those "casting numbers" that end in XR (X being a number), I assume are part of a group or assembly as Mark talked about. In some cases it seems that they are almost identical to what the part number actually is, then sometimes it makes no sense at all. So I guess my question again is, how do you indentify what year/options/engine/etc a part is used for with that casting number?

Understand also, that I'm trying to identify stuff that hasn't just come directly off of a car. Otherwise it would be a lot easier... for the most part... I think

Oh, and just to add a little to the confusion... Bosch part numbers? Anyone know of some type of database that links a bosch # to a 928 # ? i.e. ABS control modules that only have a bosch number, how do you know what year it's good for?

I need a Rossetta Stone with 928 numbers, casting numbers, and bosch numbers... maybe it's burried somewhere in Germany. Or maybe I just had a brilliant idea ...Or maybe neither.

There are 4 different 928 front upper arms. Early and late, left and right and we have pictures on our web site that should help.

Thanks for the help Mark... that's exactly what I wanted to know. (that there is just an early and a late, I was able to figure out left and right ok). It's very much appreciated.

The casting and sub-assembly numbers are lost to the wind.

Bosch does provide this handy cross-reference. I've only made it work for IE but that may have changed. It allows you to search by Bosch P/N, car maker P/N and then cross-reference the part to other car manufacturers. Can be handy.

LOL! James... very true. Like I said before, just trying to soak up everything and anything I can. I witnessed the massive amount of support you recieved a few months back from all of the people that you've helped over the years.... I hope to one day to be that respected for my 928 knowledge and support for people.

Any advice for a young Grasshopper striving to be a 928 expert??

Thanks,
Evan
