Default They run on Landshark beer!

This might be a little to much OT for you purist types.... but it does have 928 content

I love collecting sharks, white ones, blue ones, red ones, silver ones, and even those neglected old pieces of art with no paint at all... I buy them all.
I was beat to one by Fabio, in Sarasota, my own back yard!
I wonder if he wasn't feeling a little bit guilty though, because nice guy that he is, he had it trailered out to my place.
I do have my scruples about me and charged him a case of Landshark Lager to land the car at my place - until he forgets it's here.

I had the honor of steering it off the trailer and into the cave - this might have to do with the doors being next to the wheel hump on the trailer and Fabio not being able to get in the doors....
Or maybe it was because the only other skinny person was the PO, and I had just watched him get out of the truck with a Bud Lite in hand and been told he'd "had a few on the way out". As it was being rolled right behind my '86.5, I didn't want to ruin the moment....
Anywho...
We thought the PO was going to break down on us as he caressed the car for the last time... He spoke of how the car was his daily driver for ten years, and just failed one day... Like a few others - he had installed a new fuel pump, and relay, but in his words "It just wouldn't crank over - It's electrical - 1/2 the panel is dead - It's been that way for a month and I just gave up"
As Fabio and I patiently waited for him to leave, we listened to the stories of this little thing and that which he had left unattended, the 10 year old timing belt, etc, and just made a mental list of a sharing a couple days work.
I have learned better then to get them running in front of those who have given up and let them go... it just isn't polite. And knowing it's all to often something simple, we didn't touch the car - we did however touch the Landshark
Finally - after I assured him that nothing that comes on my property goes out in pieces, the PO, with a fresh Bud Lite in hand, stumbled into the passenger side of the truck, and off they went.....
"Like Buddy - Can you believe this..."
With all the excitement of a couple of kids with a new toy, (which pretty much is the plain truth) we stood there looking in awe at Fabio's new find... and then attacked it...
We turned the key and it cranked, but no start, and we couldn't hear the fuel pump.
We put the charger on, spotting a corroded fuse end or two, spun all the fuses, and we waited and had another
Fabio looked like he was tired of holding the hood up, so the first thing the car received was a new set of hood shocks... meanwhile we had been sorting the car about as much time as you've spent reading this......
We hooked up the timing light and Fabio got in to bump the key and see if it had spark....
It took a second to realize that the spark was indeed there - at about 850 RPM
We give all due credit to the consumption of Landshark Lager....
and bribing the girl with a lift job, to once again hold her front up.

It was nice having Fabio out to the property and now that I'm reassured of his return Sunday... I'll have some captive help with the leMons car

I'm telling you Mike. It was the hood shocks. If the PO had just thought to change the hood shocks, she would have started right up.

$2,500 as it sits. I can post some video of it running Sun. night. If you're interested, act soon. Once we start replacing stuff the price will climb.

Sounds like i missed a good time. If i'd have thought about it i'd have checked my on-call schedule a little earlier and switched my weekend.

At least i know what beer to bring next time, eh?

With parts being given away for free down here in Florida.....
You guys do realize there is a small charge for putting them together and making them run.
Fabio and I spent a few hours changing all the vacuum hoses, setting the timing, and going for a spin... Then returned to admire our handy work and
The fuel lines will be changed this weekend, as well as checking out the A/C.... it will take that long before the effects of the LandShark deminishes...
The car runs fine, shifts good, and feels solid, even the seats work
I wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere... but then again you've seen what I'll drive cross country just to show it can be done.
I think paint is highly over rated, but it does have more then my old primer car
Considering it's a Florida car that sat out in the sun long enough to toast the dash too... I'd also say the interior could use some TLC (Toss Lots of Cash)...

But here are pictures of what once was a proud shark.....
All in all - if someone is looking for a restoration project, or just needing a good DD - this is a good candidate.

The 1980 now has all new vacuum lines in the engine bay. Those 29 year old hoses just weren't cutting the mustard. Next up is brakes and fuel injection hoses. Heres a short video that Mike and I made after starting it that night. Enjoy.
