Glad it wasn't worse. Maybe the car is getting back at you for all the neglect.

doh! Bummer man.

Jim and I got lucky - our turkey sailed along in front of us, just close enough to catch the air in froint of the car. He just sailed for ~100ft directly in front the car before going off into the woods.

SITM SCORE:

1 Deer
1 Turkey
1 Windshield
1 transmission
1 Pair of bikers (not SITM fault!)

Last year I ran across a motorcyclist who just went down on BRP maybe 10 sec before we got there. When someone else started trying to "help" him despite my recommendations, I jet. I've been the guy on the ground and you only want the EMT's to start taking off your gear.

Who hit the deer?
I included your cam seal also.

This guy is parting an 85 on Pelican, no idea where he lives or anything like that. Thought it might be worth a shot, my 85 has the antenna in the windshield.

Efffing turkeys...

We have them out here in Marin also. I have to stand on my horn just to wake them up on the middle of the road to get out of the way. Thank God nothing so serious and life threatening happened though.

Damn! We almost hit a black bear on the way up the mountain on friday. Just as I was taking a sharp corner, you could see the bear running down to the right. If I was a couple of seconds earlier, it could have been bad.

Yep- we (I was right behind Mike) couldn't figure out just exactly how he lost it, but the overall cause was obviously pilot error/ inexperience. "let's buy a bike and go do the BRP, honey...". Something like that.

Wait a minute, two southern boys threw away road kill? Something is fishy with this story

+1

Not to mention a lot of the new helmets I looked at have air bladders that must be released before removal. If someone just starts tugging on it, not a good thing if you have an injured neck / spine.

Yup, that's the least damage I've ever seen a deer do. Didn't look like the paint even got scratched.

Can't believe someone just tossed some Wild Turkey down a ravine.

Deer took out black car's right headlight. No paint scratch as reported.
Stone curb took out the low riding car's front spoiler. I heard the commotion as he was backing onto the grass and thought he had hit another 928. Those front spoilers make a loud raquet when they go.

Thanks Andrew O. and gang for letting tag along for the Cherahalo Skyway drive. If anyone find the last 1/8" of outer front tire tread that I had before leaving let me know. The outer tread blocks are bald as a (fill in the blank).
And anyone heading North out of Spruce Pine/Banner Elk might want to investigate re-routing off the highway for a stretch of County Road 221 in NC. OMG, it was like Cherahalo all over again. Except there was no one to follow and the decreasing radii turns get haory fast.

Wow, glad to see that you guys are ok. I thought I would post one of the last pre-turkey hit pics and a shameless post of my car. You guys had my brother and I laughing so hard on Saturday. It was great meeting you and Mitch.
