Total support for bringing him back. He has become a true mentor over on Pellican. Not the same Bone Dangler, we knew before. I have had occassion to deal with Mike personally a couple times and he is top notch.

He was just over eager and over excited when he first hit the boards. He got a lot of crap like most noobs, he just didn't listen like most noobs. That makes him ADHD, not a jerk.

I call bovine scatology on this one. I've seen plenty of posters that are complete tools. And that's the opinion of everyone except close friends. Remember Todd? He made pissing people off into a fine art around here. If danglerb has something to contribute, and can keep the BS to a dull roar, I'm not against it. I have yet to see any value add to having him return. Maybe that should be a key metric of his return.

I've seen some piling-on involving certain individuals who have tried to be provocative or humorous in their early forum careers. They can be irritating if one forgets the time when each of us didn't know WTF we were talking about. I have also seen trolls that just wanted to F with us. IMHO Dangerb was an inexperienced yet vocal member who got in over his head. If any of us have something to contribute, so might he.

BTW I was probably a jerk a lot 20 or 30 years ago. It doesn't come out much now, unless I am pushed pretty hard or am under the influence of alcohol. For the most part I take most on-line trash talk with a grain of salt.

Holy Cow, Carradine died???????????????????? I grew up on that guy....
Well anyways, Mike (danglerb) has saved me "literally" THOUSANDS on repairs on my 928 from his advice on another forum.
I don't see what the deal is...

You know Doc? Sometimes when you post you seem like the BIGGEST ***** I have ever had the (un)fortunate opportunity to read from.

And its not even because you don't understand how great ethanol is in a high performance engine.

********

About Mike Ford. I think the 24 people who voted for him to stay the hell away would think differently if they were to meet him over some drinks. The man has an apparent IQ high above what you will normally find on the street.

Don't Trust my first person account?

What about Greg Brown. Anybody feel like taking him at his word?

What about Mark Anderson? Anybody feel like he wouldn't BS about it?

Before some of you pull out the Hypocrite stick for me, I am prickly at times. I am well aware. I am also quite prickly in person unless its my job at that time to be NOT prickly - which I consider part of my day job. I can do both. Same show, different channels.

Speaking about "Value" to the forum, who here other than a very select few provide REAL value. I sure as hell don't think I do or say anything (here) that is worth more than the current free cost of reading it. I have a Day Job where I provide great value. This is a hobby. I don't have to provide value to have a place in this forum. Neither does anyone else here. Many I would say provide negative value.

Mike Ford is not one of those negative value people.

To be banned for not breaking any rules - only have slightly irritated a few select already very irritable people in the first place is not where ban stick belonged in the first place.

What Bill said!

Being a semi-clueless newb myself, I have no idea of what happened in the past. I do know that Mike has been very patient and helpful to me answering questions over on Pelican.

What he said. I call bull****. It was very clear that the "old danglerb" was a very intelligent, very focused individual who had set out to frustrate everyone (no Brendan not a select few as you say, but everyone, including the one guy who is so loudly trying to sell his untimely return here). There was nothing accidental or innocent or "gentlemanly" about his frustrating attitude. THAT Bill, is what made him bannable.

You all apparently have amnesia.

Thank you. This is one of the finest endorsements I've ever had. I will sleep soundly, and deeply tonight.

No, we just have the amazing superpower of being able to not read some peoples' posts

Although I must confess to using the ignore list once.. I took that person off ignore after they became less prolific, and now I just don't read their threads or posts.

Most of the crap that happened in the whole Danglerb saga was just people who thought it was their job to police the forums to their own set of rules, or who had nothing better to do than sit at their pc and drink.

Nope. I never once called out on Mike in any way shape or form. Again, I think people are mistaking posts of his with possibly the impostor or someone else.

I guess I never really noticed how cliquey this place is. I don't condone, like, wish for, support, or have any respect for cliques. I may be biased, as my temperament does not *do* cliques.

I have already emailed Mike about this thread, and suggested a plan to re-register as Mike.Ford and post in this thread. He will obviously do as he chooses.

Well,

I for one DO know someone who used to call him out! Quite fun times in the past.

FWIW at Sharktoberfest last year I had asked another SoCal 928er to point him out to me and have to agree he is interesting.

I do think from the VERY FEW times ive gone on Pelican that his posts seem to be on the helpful side of things. I cant recall ever reading anything of real technical value of his but I think that he ceases to post such things and for that i am happy. That was always my problem was that some things which are very important to me with regard to this board (all the juicy tech detail) were being parroted or quoted by someone which had no real experience in which they were discussing. That did bother me.

In the end, I think is been what, 2 years now? If he wants to come back and contribute then by all means, let me be among the first whoever to say WELCOME BACK!

It should at the very least make this board more interesting, I need a little comedy now, i am growing so damn sick of working on these old pigs! I would just about die for one of those new Porsche Boxster/Speedsters ive been reading about.... or one of those 2600lb 4 cylinder turbo mid engined (less than boxster price) Porsches thats due in.......2014 These damn old cars are killing me! SO PLEASE GIVE ME COMEDY!

I WOULD ALSO LOVE LOVE LOVE TO SEE A POST-OFF (like a dance off) between Kibort and Danglerb about god knows what.

Perhaps it could be a weekly thread on a new subject? Maybe a point / counter point as to topics such as....

the 3 seater 928 with full lounger in the back
putting various different parts from other cars onto the 928 (see kiborts new post on Merc brakes on 928, or danglerb trying to put some other cars steering rack on the 928)

yeah.... im sold, he can come back, but I think it has to be under the "danglerb" handle, that would be my only exception. As someone said, that name carries some kinda cache around here.
