slave cylinder rod length?
When I bought my car the PO had removed the slave cylinder and lost the push rod. I heard there are two different length rods. Which length rod is needed for the 82 cars? short or long? Does anyone have the exact measurement for the rods?
Thanks

I have a new 78-82 clutch slave cylinder at home and can measure it tonight if no one answers before then.

Hmm, I've been shortchanged- the pushrod that came with the early slave is 5.46 inches, vs. 6.70 inches for the S4 pushrod.
And just for fun, here's the custom slave flexible line Greg made for the stroker- the early slave hardline won't work with the oil pan closer to the slave (because of the pan spacer), so he fabbed this up.

Rob:
Interesting about the slave line. On Dennis's motor we used a pan spacer and had no problem with the stock rigid line, although perhaps that's becasue we used one of the small "racing" starters (which works very well, BTW).

Bill-
Is Dennis running the dual disc clutch with the '78-'82 slave? The fitting on that slave angles upwards 45o (while the S4 fitting is just above horizontal. I just sort of assumed that it wouldn't work without making a new hardline, so Greg made up the flex line. Given that the flexible line on the GTS looks pretty dodgy and new ones cost $100+, Greg's custom solution was only incrementally more.
