Hey guys...just as things were beginning to move forward my engine completely seized yesterday. 2 crank bearings worn out and one connecting rod bearing. Before I do an overhaul on the engine just wanted to know if its possible to put in an S4 engine on there using my existing spider intake and electricals. Has anyone done it ? Got an S4 engine at hand. I realize that the intake size is larger on the S4 but I can always manufacture a custom plate to fit above the existing holes to adapt it to the 16 valve spider...I have an engine without any modules thats why I'm considering it..anyone done this

if you have a Euro engine why not fix it its worth a bit due to that fact it is an S version and makes about 300 HP

The "hybrid" engines have used the 85-85 pidtons if you do it with S-4 pistons the compression ratio is SO LOW it barely runs ! Lucky (the EK of DEVEK) built one that way many years ago then found he had to add forced induction....

I have another S engine that is complete except for the camshafts ... basically what the mechanic suggested doing is removing the crank and all eight pistons with rods...including all main bearings and crank rod bearings and installing them on my seized engine. While checking the other engine we turned the crank and it turned easily and checked the bearings and crank for any wear and they looked like they're in pretty good shape. Hopefully this'll save me a bunch of money. Any thoughts ?
(no I cant just put my existing camshafts on this engine and install it since we have weird registration laws in Jordan as far as changing engines and engine numbers ! Dont ask why cause I have no idea...)

Whether you can put the pistons/bearings/rods into your block depends on a couple of factors.
Firstly, what damage was done when your motor seized? It might be necessary to refinish one or more bores and use larger tolerance group pistons in those cylinders, or oversize bearings and grind some journals, or some welding.
Secondly - how experienced is your mechanic and does he have access to the workshop manuals to correctly reassemble the 928 engine, as from the sounds of it, a warranty is not much use due to registration rules? (if the engine breaks following rebuild, you may not be able to register the car again)
Unless you're particularly attached to the car for sentimental reasons, it might be cheaper/easier to replace the car with another 928 - depending of course on import duties/rules.

Beleive it or not there are only 4 or 5 928's here ! Due to very high customs taxes it is financially not feasible to by one from abroad and pay taxes on it and register it. A 928 can range any where from $14k to $25k...and thats not for a GTS just for a regular 928s or S4. In the future the option is to buy a 928 from either Germany or the US and scrap is as parts and pay customs on it...shouldnt be more than a $1000. Then park it right next to my car and switch everything on it on to my car...

kassim,
you need pistons and so on of the same tolerancegroup or your new engine is also broken.Building an engine is not playing with "lego".
Put the enginecode from the broken engine on the good engine. It´s the easiest way.
