I guess the confusion is based on the site itself...
**The base model Pilot 42 Auto has a basic leather strap, not the pilot strap... that adds 49 euros to the base price.
**A movement without the date complication would cost less... so in reality, the date complication is still there -only covered up with a windowless dial (?)... extra money for an invisible feature.
**The sapphire crystal is already included... so why does it cost more to have it? If switching to mineral drops the price by $100... what does switching to a different (no date) Swiss automatic movement drop the price to?
**Over 2/3 of the votes are for $425 or less.......... but our choices are $495 or $595...
**A 911-based watch... sure, it would move 10x more watches than a 928. Car sales figures would show that to be true. And a mass-appeal 'Porsche' watch would move 100x as many watches too. I understand your point, but not really in context here...
Don't get me wrong here... I own 3 Breitlings, 2 Raymond Weils, and an assortment of other odds 'n ends watches, including an original pilot watch (earlier in thread) from WWII. The only Rolex I would ever own is a serti with sapphire marked 2-tone Submariner -but I'd still rather have my Breitlings. Rolex is too prideful when it comes to pricing and dealer relations/contracting and they are too lax in design (too similar to models from 30 years ago).
I am just inquiring about Laco's commitment to provide you a good deal here.

The dial was going to be custom either way.

It was going to be $495 without it. They used to offer without the sapphire, and listed it 100 euro less than the sapphire model.
This is new since the last month or 2.
All the watches on my site are without the sapphire crystal.
It is still an option with the Laco factory as my last contact with them yesterday.
The only movement they use in this model is the 2824 that I am aware of.
The date is there, just covered up by the dial.

I feel we are getting a good deal on this watch.
You may feel otherwise, which is fine.
A little research would prove that this is a great price for a custom watch made in Germany.
I didn't proof read this yet, so be kind.
I haven't eaten lunch yet It's almost 4 and I'm ready to tip over
I'll be back later

I just spoke with Chris on the phone, and all of my points of concern have been laid to rest There has been a lot of communication between he and Laco on the details, price and production timeline that he has graciously sheltered us from.
It sounds as though if someone wants some real drama... just call Laco! Wow.
Anyway, another major point in this being a stellar deal is the custom case that the watch is delivered in (that had slipped my mind), and will definitely show up on the pro side of a pro vs. con comparison.
Thank you Chris (James & RKD as well) for being behind this effort... I can't wait to see it!
