Here is a video guide of how to use your racing in a bar setting.

Walk up to the bar at a singles club and watch for the reaction from the girls when you say in a loud voice - I have a racing timing belt.
Even if you do not actually go any faster you may get lard.

I think I'll let the early adopters gain the experience and I'll be a fast follower should things work out well.

Is there anyway one of the vendors could package a kit that would include say, a waterpump, the new TB, and Porkensioner, and all bits & pieces for a frontend job
Now you're talking Roger! This is what is needed. Combine the best of the bits with the best experiences and resources like JKelly's book and Pirtle's notes and you have a complete system. Now that, collectively has value to me and others. The vendors need to think of these things in terms of complete systems instead of a seperate parts. I'd sign up for one of these packaged TB/WP systems.

Well here is an update - Travis warned me that dealing with Gates would be an experiance!!!!

Finally got an invoice for a deposit on the order - where have I heard that before 8>).
Also a promise of delivery from Europe by air as they are ssoooooooo late already.
Erring on the side of caution we are about 6 weeks away from seeing the goods.
Keep the faith.

These belts are stronger, and the belt is kind of the fuse in the timing system, so I wonder what may break before the belt does?

The order is for 100 + or - 10% (their words not mine) and the first 32 are already spoken for. If you want to be added to the list send me an email at roger@928sRus.com

Something usually does break before the belt does

When a pulley stops moving the belt isn't going to last long. I'm thinking this belt might buy you some time before all hell breaks loose.

So they can't make a carbon/ceramic cam gear that is durable and light?
(light since it's up high)

??? will they work on both the old and new design....or is it only the "HD" tooth version....since only a few model years have the older belt design?

In case I haven't said already I will take one maybe two if they work on the OB's

Lots of stories - moving the tooling from Germany to Scotland, delivery maybe early November. I am resigned to "they will arrive when they arrive".
I asked again for the tech spec only to be told that they would not release the detail. However I asked for a Layman's version and this is what I have to share with you.

The Gates Racing belts are actually built with “Life of the Engine Construction”.
Meaning that in Europe they call out a belt that will be resistant to failure up to 200,000km and beyond.
We are using an upgraded HNBR compound that is really the best compound around for added Tooth Strength and higher Heat resistance.
We use a Premium tensile cord to increase overall belt strength.
We are utilizing the High Performance Jacketing that is wear resistant to 200,000km.

HNBR = Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber

Stick with me and we will get the belts.
