If your belt breaks while accelerating out of a corner, that wall / tree is going to hurt.

Roger..........don't you realise the short driving season and you come out with the PKlamp and now the 'super' tbelt.

How are we going to make the big OC event?

How will the cam gears react for wear to this new belt compound?

I would imagine the same as any other gear. If you leave them on for 20 years, they will be shot.

My gears are 20 years old and they are not shot. I was thinking more along the lines of abresivness. If the belt doesn't wear, then something else has to. Am I mistaken?

I asked about this as well in the other thread where this belt was mentioned...

Well, just because the thing will last a life time does not mean that it should not be changed... I guess at that time we will find out how the cam gears react. It will take some time to figure it out, but not having to worry about a T-belt failure on either of my GTS's would be nice!

While I cannot but applaud Rogers tenacity in pursuing the Holy Grail in terms of improving 928 parts. In this particular case I may have to offer a contrary opinion.

Has any body had a TB fail that wasn't in the cold cold light of day actually the result of:

Wear on the Cam belt sprockets causing premature wear of the teeth on the TB
Wear in the tensioner roller bearings causing the belt to walk and get worn away (whilst also causing wear everywhere else
Failed/Failing Waterpump bearings .....
Oil contamination from oil leaks (Rubber don't like oil)
Factory fitted belt never been changed since Stuttgart
Retensioned a million times belt because it kept loosing tension (because it was too tight to start with)
I won't even go into the detensioner without oil in it scenario
Just plain and simple not tensioned correctly

If anyone can provide me with evidence of a normal belt that just snapped when all the above were OK I'll buy them a new racing belt.

Oh and Roger as the OZ/US $ exchange rate has improved I'll be sending my order as soon as I remember everything I need.
