Well, Jim is right, but I hope you save this car and the help keeps coming to you. You will never get your money out of it, but the "atta boy" factor is priceless and the knowledge you will gain is transferrable. Good luck.

Bring it to SITM and you'll get a lot of help just identifing parts and routing. Dave might even have an old harness laying around you could cannabalize. You'd also get amp'd up with all the other running cars and stories of how they got that way.

Heinrick once mentioned some good advice to me, it was along the lines of: for a 928 purchase, consider three things. Mechanical condition, body condition, interior condition. You need at least two of the three to be decent condition (subjective I know) to make it worth considering purchasing it to use as a driver. If you don't have at least 2 out of 3, you're in for a lot of expenses and headaches.

I thought this was good advice for the hobby 928 owner that might take on a bit of the work here and there, learning as they go.

Not sure where this 928 falls in the mix, but sounds like you've got plenty of offers for help (way to go guys, you rock), so it sounds doable.

Keep us posted.

Keep at it!

Cool

Thank you ALL for your inspiration, assistance and motivating words. This forum and it's members are beyond description. I've never seen a group of people so willing to help another with no more than a bond as simple as owning a similar motor vehicle.

As for SITM, I will be there next year, without a doubt. I may even make Frenzy in VI in October. I would love to be at SITM, as it's a meager 10-12 hours away, but i really need to do my Fuel lines and a TBF Check first. Unfortunately, this is not going to happen before this weekend.

NeverLateInMyNineTwoEight, I have all three! I mean, i have work to do in all three...

I do have a question for those keen on interior model year changes. tlsmith1999's criagslist post really has me intrigued. Will this interior bolt right into mine? From the small picture it apprears to be an automatic, which is the same as mine. How about the Instrument cluster... are they "plug and play" across model years for automatics? (84 and 85, or 84 and 82)

Many thanks,
Charlie

The instrument cluster isn't included in that Craigs list ad and it usually never is included in someones description of "interior".

The interior should bolt in but do you really need a whole interior?
I thought it was just dash work??
If so a pod and used dash/console could be gotten for possibly about 300.00 if you can find the right deal, Plus the other HVAC and sub systems, possibly donated from someone thats making a track car or junking (think Mason)

No, my interior other than dash, pod and center console are ok, but i figured with some pics to back it up, that CL post looks enticing for a whole new change... namely getting rid of the Burgundy. I'm keeping my options open.

I do need an instrument cluster though... :-/
