My question too. The 18:1 model I have is probably the only one I will ever have, but that is my dream. I understand full size replicas are available for $75K.

Here is a thread from 6Speed about the Red 959
959 Thread
Heres a quote from the thread:
Yes, our 959 S was requested for the 3 day commercial shoot. Were you there? Wish I could share more, but you will see it all soon enough. All I can say is that the amount of rare Porsche street cars and race cars throughout history that were there was mind boggling. Jerry Seinfeld had over 20 of his cars there including the very 1st 911 and much more.

The Car (Owned by RSS & Stuttgart Performance):

1988 Porsche 959 S U.S. Sport Model

• Only 229 total production models in 1988
• Only 29 U.S. Sport Models were made for the U.S.
• Our car was the first 959 legally imported into the U.S.
• The engine was rated at 450 HP @ 6500 RPM w/ 370 lb.ft. of torque @ 5,500 RPM
• The engine was recently modified by Bruce Canepa Design in Santa Cruz, CA
• The stock KKK turbo chargers were replaced with larger Garrett ball bearing turbo chargers
• The computer was remapped and the engine now produces 600+ HP
• It also meets all EPA & DOT standards which makes it street legal in all states
• Top Speed 220+ MPH

looks like an abarth, not a 904 to me. Go to Montery Historics this year and you will see them all.

Got a Poster at Pebble Beach yesterday at the Porsche Display Featuring the Panarama, I believe it has your 928 on it.

That 959 must have been imported through Wallace Labs in Houston if it was the first one legally in the country and registered because they did the first one in the mid '90's... At least that is what they told me when they did my 928. They have been an RI since the early 80's or before maybe...

Cool cars, but they look way more dated than any 928... YMMV!

That quote above said something about 28 made for America... that can't be right. NONE were "made for America" that is why they were such a PITA to get in to this country and why there are so few of them. Had they EVER been "made for America" we would see way more of them.

To date there may in fact only be 29 that have been imported and registered. OR, there may be only 29 that are FULLY DOT and EPAed and a gaggle more of them that are here under the "show and display" law...

Can't tell you my pleasant surprise when I walked into the Porsche area, picked up a poster off the table, and saw the 928 appropriately represented.

Friday and Saturday at the Historics, today at Pebble. This car junky got a big fix this weekend! Even dragged Mark Anderson around and made him actually watch a race or two. I think I noticed a twitch every time cars raced by, but he seemed to enjoy it even though he wasn't driving.

That is a great poster! Can't wait to see this commercial.

I have to admit, I'm really missing SoCal and all of the car culture.

Boo. When you try to sign up for the video access and it asks what Porsche model you drive, 928 is not on the list. So I chose Carrera GT instead.

Should I be annoyed that the 928 is at the back of the pack? Red-headed stepchild I guess....
