I've seen that Cayenne filming a Toyota commercial on the Coronado Bridge last year.

Nice!

Thanks for the follow-up. Let us know when/where we can see the finished product.

I meant to comment on the Cayenne camera vehicle. That thing was very cool. Something about the gearing that allows the allows it to travel at a variety of speeds in the same shot w/o shifting, matte so as not to reflect unwanted light on the shot, decked to the gills with equipment, and of course that brilliant 928 derived motor that powers it with torque through a broad range. That thing was running for two days straight. Heck, they put over 100 miles on my car just going up and down the runways. Lots of film for a 30 and 60 second spot of which it will probably be a flash in a shot at best.

Watching them film the helicopter sequences was even better.

Was it a real 959, there are some wicked accurate versions out on the west coast. Beautiful GTS I might add.

I seriously doubt Porsche had some Fiero hackjob 959 in their commercial... lol. just kidding, but I'm sure it was real if Porsche used it.
They are expensive though, aren't they around half a mil? Maybe I'm dreaming, I do know they were extremely expensive...

Nice work both of you for making this happen for all of us!

How cool is that, a 928 in a new Porsche commercial, with "Holy Grail" Porsches like the 959 included! Who said Porsche has no love for their 928!

Good stuff,

Marketing Constantine... they are using a visual tie to all of their past product lines because that is their core market. To leave any of them out would be very short thinking on their part. The omitted car's fans would feel left out and shunned.

Maybe they've been listening to us after all?

Hack job, nice one, lol! My guess is there was probably a $100mil policy on the cars there. Not just the rarest of road cars, but from the track as well. A certain comedian who loves Porsches and once had a show about nothing had around 20 cars there. Nice guy who deeply loves all things Porsche and talked about his cars freely. A legendary driver or two as well. Not trying to be secretive or cryptic, but I'm probably overdoing it as it is and don't want to mess up a good thing. I finally have something worthwhile to share with you all and I can't, I'm bustin' a gut!

Wish I could tell you more, but count on a full story in time. I'm sure there is so much more than the part of the story I know, but the whole scope of this project is nothing short of epic. Everyone involved was in awe, and many of these folks are very hard to impress (not me, I was a kid in a candy store).

Since it is about me and not the project, this story illustrates how surprised and impressed I was with what I saw.

They asked for the car to be dropped off Tue afternoon for shooting Wed, Thu, and possibly Fri. So I had my wife and kids follow me to El Toro and then off to my folks to celebrate there 52nd anniversary. Let's just say I was a little late to dinner! I couldn't believe what was assembled and who was there. I was invited to watch the filming along with the other owners, but they said there was a bunch of standing around and it would be mostly boring stuff and down time. I arrived about 7:30 Wed morning, called my assistant at 9 and told her unless it was an emergency I wouldn't see her until Friday. Worth every second, chance of a lifetime kinda thing.

So when you say thanks for representing, it was me who feels lucky. Many other cars here could have done as well or better than mine, I was just in the right place at the right time.

More to come, I'll be sure to tell you about airing schedules and the like when/if they tell me. BTW, expect a classy presence by Porsche/PCNA at the Monterey Historics and the Vintage races at Laguna Seca.

Cheers

Very Cool, thanks for updating us William & congrats on getting to represent. On a wild hope that maybe part of the motivation for your car next to the Panamera is Porsche getting everyone prepared for the 2 door version of the Panamera with the connection to the 928 eh??

William thank you for posting the update! Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity to see those cars assembled in one place and in action. Was the entire photo shoot done at the base or did they shoot some of the commercial at other locations in SoCal?

Can't wait to get hear the whole story once the CDA has expired.

Jeff Zwart is the best there is when it comes to filming cars. He held the position at Road & Track before I came aboard. Whatever he is doing there is no question it will be dramatic and of the highest quality. He is a rally driver himself (quite good) and a Porsche owner and enthusiast. The man is incomparable when it comes to bringing his own style to a project. Anxious to hear more about this and see the final product.
