Anyone tried the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec yet?
They are the new hot thing in Autocross/Street Class tires. I just wondered if anyone had tried them on a 928 yet as most "autocross" tires don't perform well if not on a light weight Honda, Miata, or Mini Cooper.

Not bad pricing, but not a screamin' deal either. I need new rubber for my '92 GTS one of these days soon, but it sure is fun playing Drift king with that car! Quite predictable actually (which is not something you can say with all or even most fully automatic transmission cars)...

I didn't think the star spec made the right sizes?
I run Toyo R888's on the race car and am VERY happy with them...25+ heat cycles and they are still well above 50% tread life...I also found a VERY cheap online place to buy them too
www.treadzone.com the best deals I've found so far
I also think the star spec is a true "R" comp tire too....

Ordered Dunlop Star Specs in 235s for front and 275s for rear to fit my 18 x 8 & 10 Carrera Classic IIIs, will see how they run.
They do have a 200 tread wear rating, SCCA classifies them as a street tire and not R compound.
The Kumho MXs were a little cheaper than the star specs. MXs glowing reviews dry but not so good wet.
I like tires I can daily drive on that give me enough stick to set fast laps at my local autocrosses. My rear pilot sports only lasted 7000 miles before not only worn down to the wear bars but getting really greasy feeling and dangerously loose.

I recently purchased Dunlop Direzza DZ101's from Discount Tire, and they put the Sport Z1's on the front by mistake. They are very nice tires. I contemplated leaving them on but the tread pattern is quite different. Went back and had the DZ101's put on the front, even though I could have had the Z1's which are about a hundred bucks more each for the price of the DZ101's.
I have ran Dunlop Sport 9000's for years, but wanted to try a lower cost alternative to see how they perform. The Z1's are very nice, and Dunlop has a $50.00 rebate going on. The DZ101's are pretty nice for the money, but the Z1 is definitely better.
