CIS Fuel Distributor breakdown?!? New Zealand
Hey,
Has anyone personally of heard about someone stripping down the fuel distributor? My car has been sitting for about 5years while I was overseas. Now its time to get her humming again. Im looking to strip everything down but not sure how to clean/rebuild/tune the distributor. I have heard a rumor that the unit should not be turned upside down?? Is this true??
Any suggestions cheers.

Why do you think it needs rebuilt? Most of the problems after sitting is due to lacquer buildup which can normally be cleaned without separating the two halves. There are 10 internal o rings, that if broken will require rebuilding. The symptoms of broken o rings are 1) too much fuel going to part of the injectors (but not all) or 2) fuel being dumped into the lower plenum.
Cleaning can be accomplished by removing the distributor, relief valve and piston then pressure spraying cleaner through all the ports. Then repeat by back flushing until all the cleaner comes out clear.
A rebuild kit is available for the relief (system pressure) valve.

Here you go. Book mark this link for future use. Rebuild is simple. You will be surprised by the amount of gook and rust in the bottom bowls. Remove the 8 fuel lines and then it's only 3 long screws hodling it down.
