Yours is ready to go with your vacuum fittings.

Hey Rog,
Any word on the re-tooling of the hatch receivers? Has that project been scrapped or are you still working on alternatives to the first design. Just wondering whether I should spring the $100 for the entire bottom assembly or bide my time...

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
With the cost of tooling this is not going anywhere fast.

Buy the new one if you can Dan, after my painful experience, it now works like a charm.... really snug, quick, no adjustment shims and sweeeeeet.

Thanks guys for the quick reply's (sorry about the delay on my end--been pretty busy at work). I sort of figured the project was back-shelved for the moment Roger--on behalf of everyone, thanks for trying. I think I will go ahead and order the part as wg928 suggests. I'm tired of the stupid back hatch not working--I wonder if there's a way to modernize the back hatch--put a current VW (I was going to say Ford but then thought better of putting an American part in a German car) hatch release system--it would probably save about ten pounds (I exaggerate) to get the upper hatch/lower hatch and motor out of there!

Have a closer look at yours and tell me if you've seen anyone else used a system like that? The system is not heave at all.
