Child seat for 928 - Cosco Juvenile
Fits perfectly in the back of the 928, I know there have been lots of questions about this. This seat takes toddlers up to 40 lbs. Picked it up at Walmart for 65 bucks. I hooked the UAS straps toi the cargo hooks in the hatch, I had to get another strap to extend the one on the one side. It is in there tight, could pull the skidpad with him in the back LOL!

I wouldn't use the cargo anchors for this. Those are flimsy at best. Couple years ago I was contemplating to use the same exact point to achor the strap but after a really good look, I decided to not to. The two phillips head bolts are tiny and I wasn't confortable to trust them. You can easily move that achor even with just your fingers (at least I was). When you compare what a certified achor kit looks like, the size of the achor bolt problaby has 50 times the strength than that cargo net anchor.
What I did was, right above it, at the edge of the trunk (right infront of the hatch seal), drilled a hole and installed a proper child seat achor kit, with an oversized washer under the nut (to spread the load as much as possible under the sheet meatal). There is just enough room, after removing the tool tray, to get your fingers in there and thread a nut onto the achnor bolt.
Hey...wait a minute, just realized that you are practically next door to me ..... come on over and I'll show you what I did.

Um.. the certified anchor bolt point already exists in the rear of the 928 - both sides behind the rear seat backs.
We have the same certification as Canada here in Australia.
Look on the floor of the hatch area - two threaded holes are there which take the standard child seat restraining bolt. I'll see if I can find a pic on this pc - if not I'll just go take a photo of the anchor point in the rear of my 928

Bah, too many photos to trawl through - I just went outside and took a couple more
The holes are tucked under the edge of the carpet and the leather/vinyl beneath it, just behind the seats.
Edit: They're UNC threaded - possibly the only non-metric threads on the 928?

Off topic since you are so close, you wouldn't happen to have a Kempf tool I could use would you? My belt was done by the PO but I want to make sure it is OK.

Should consider some anchors for the seat and use the newer style that anchors versus using the lap/shoulder belt. At least in my S4, it was nearly impossible to keep it tensioned properly and restrict the seat movements. Once your kid(s) is older, Britax's Star Riser (also Fisher Price's equivalent) fit the seats.
Good luck!

You are lucky, I do have one and a flywheel locking tool too. Send me a PM and we can work out a time to meet up.

Thanks for the pics, I never thought those holes were for that. However they seem very close to be a proper theader strap anchor points. Are they perhaps anchor points for the side of the child seats?

I picked up a tether kit from Canadian Tire. The bolt kit is too big to fit in those holes so smaller bolts will be required. Since there are only 2 holes I am thinking they are for top tethers. I want to use the Latch system for the lower mounts as the lap belt won't hold the seat worth a crap. The tether hooks fit perfectly over the shock mounting nuts, that should be strong enough to hold correct?

I can't picture what you are describing. Ar eyou trying to use the new side latches/belts of the seat to anchor the child seat? Having said that, I did mount the child seat, at the front, facing to the rear once. I pulled on the belt to lock it, then used the power seats motor to pull the passanger seat forward, untill the seat belt was tight enough to safely hold the baby seat.

Yes, you are right, it's difficult to find a way for hte rear seat. I used a couple of ratcheting tie down straps (900lb capacity each, used two) to secure the seat to the back of the rear seats. Then the theader strap that held the top of the child seat, anchored to the very back. However my headgasket blew before I had a chance to fully finish this project. I think the rear seat backs are strong enough to hold the child seat but a theader strap is a must too.
