Hey Aryan,
I'm planning to take it to Guus Hamers in Hoorn/Zwaag. I've been there a lot and they're always a great help. A lot of knowledge and fair prices.
I live in Oostzaan, on the north side of Amsterdam....about 20 kms from Amstelveen. I'd like to see your S4 too. I'm not too sure we can do anything with my car because it's on the streets, raised on concrete tiles. But we can have a coffee and talk about cars.

Hi Tim,
Do't have my 928 currently in Holland, but will have it in afew weeks. I would like to come by this week or next week to have a look at yours. I am curious waht it looks like, because form your description it sounds nice. I usually have time at the end of the day, let me know when it suits you. Coffee and car talk sounds good.

Hi Aryan,
I think next week would be best for me. It doesn't matter what day. Just give me a ring at 06-14105953. I hope by the end of this week I will have all the parts that I took off back on the car

Time for an update.....
I put the car down on all 4 wheels (the front wheels were on concrete tiles). Just out of curiosity I decided to hook up the battery......THE ENGINE TURNED OVER!! without sparkplugs though.... It sounded ok. So I put back the sparkplugs. The car started (with a fresly charged battery) and ran for about 30 seconds (twice). It sounded like it should only it cranked slower than usual. After my two attempts it seemed like the battery was too low....So I charged it and measured it, after a week just standing in the garage....not connected it measured 12.7v. So I took it to the shop today to have the starting capicity checked. Their normal tester was broken but the guy said he could test it. The machine measured 12.83v.....but shouldn't there have been a reading in amps?!? I put the battery back in the car and measured while cranking....about 8.5v. But still the battery ground strap gets warm!!?? I took a jumper cable (rated to 300 amps) and bridged the battery ground strap...no change. Or is that too simple thinking? I'm thinking maybe a bad ground connection....my in car volt meter reads below 12v (about 11.5v) but when I measure directly on my battery posts it measures 12.7v. Can it be the neutral safety switch? I'd like your honest opinion...are there more things I can do/check myself or is it time to stop DIY-ing and have a professional look at it? I would really like to fix it myself but maybe I bit off more than I can chew.....
thanks again!

Since you are not that familiar with working on the 928 recommend you bring it to a repair shop who know 928s and their complexities, especially about TBF issues, and let them go through the car. End this guessing game before spending anymore money chasing phantom problems on a possibly TBF'd 928.
Best of luck,
Best of luck,

Together we took a look at the car this weekend. Strange thing. The engine couldn't be turned by hand. Trying the starter it moves just a little bit. Seems like something is preventing the engine from turning. With some tools and no bridge, no way to check it out further. The car is going to a mechanic soon to have it diagnosed. Tim, keep us posted on any progress. Sure hope it runs soon again.

quick test pull the dipstick and drip the oil onto a black piece of cardboard go into the sun and check for mewtallic particles if you see any then its a good chance that the thrust bearing is toast.
Pull the plugs and spin the engine by hand how does it feel, Free turning ?

Hi Stan,
We did do the dipstick test, no particles to be seen. But then again I the engine didn't run for some weeks. Tim tried to spin the engine without plugs and without the starter, and no movement either...nothing came out the cylinders then btw, no fuel, no coolant. The starter was tested was tested separately and found to be ok.
