Question Poll: SHARK FS POSTS

Ok. I have seen the feedback. Here is the poll. Do we (1) post FS sharks to a common thread, (2)post FS sharks individually, fresh, as they come up. Or....(3) SHUT THE F%#$ UP! (I was trying to snake this shark for cheap and YOU wrecked the deal!!!!)

Sorry, I believe the posts about a common thread for FS cars was before I started using the forum daily, and I must have missed it. I feel that posting the cars individually is best. (Don't click on it if you don't want to be bothered by it.) I'd rather see a lister get the car than a non enthusiast. That's just my opinion...

I'd say if the 928 is not in one of the spots most people look i.e, autotrader, ebay or cars.com go ahead and post it b/c if somebody is seriously looking those will usually be the first places they look. Some of the more obscure sites like are less likely to get regular traffic so I'd say post those cars. If you know about a car that is not advertised or not advertised in the usual sites and few people are likely to see or know about it; post it otherwise, it's kind of redundant and the possibility you're throwing a wrench into someone's plans is pretty high (which could happen regardless of where it's posted I guess). Or, if you know something specific, good or bad about a specific car advertised I'd say pipe up as information is good but if you're posting it just to post it I'd say refrain.

One thread with cars for sale will quickly become diluted and of little value.......

I don't know, it seems that three of my postings led directly to sales. Only the owners can say whether they would have found it otherwise.

1) Kermit II, to Roger
2) #38
3) The '84S Euro down the street from my office

The problem with posting them all under one thread is that there is no car specific title to draw the attention of someone otherwise not looking. And with the number of ones that are posted, comments about ones posted at the same time will get all mashed up together and be hard to follow.

Maybe it would just to better to preface each new thread of this type with a header. Such as "SSFS: Early model" (SSFS being Shark Spotted For Sale). Any one completely not interested could ignore it, just like all the other thread they ignore.

Bronto,
4 of your postings led to sales. I'm coming back in town May 12 to pick up the white '88 you posted about and I bought last month.

I thought about voting for #3 since the 6 928's I bought this year where directly related to them being posted by other members and I never would have seen them otherwise...
But I'm still having fun with them all and the shark cave still has room - so POST AWAY! #2!

If it isn't broken, why fix it.

Furthermore, individual posts often lead to interesting discusssions regarding the car which is extremely helpful to all prospective buyers.

One of the only reasons I come on this site anymore is to get the skinny on cars for sale. I'm pretty certain my next 928 will come from one of the posts like yours.

Keep it up! I need the extra eyes!

I say one post per 928 for sale....since every 928 is unique and deserves it own "space"

However selling a non beater 928 right now is just about impossible for anything other than a fire sale price....(ask me how I know)

Post away! If nothing else it is a good way to keep an eye on prices. Only downside on Craigslist is list price is often different from sale price. If you wanted to get real crazy with it you could chart sales and have a realworld value by region, year, color, and so on. Knowlege is power.

Personally, I only post on cars that are special for some reason. Low price, great looking, special interest or local to me that I have personal knowledge on or would volunteer to bird dog. 20 in 2 weeks is too much.

+ 1 ... why NOT? A combined thread would turn into a mish-mash and be virtually useless in no time.

I find the posts useful for genral pricing information and the comments that usually follow Mike's initial listing. It does not bother me to see these cars brought to the 928 community's attention. What is surprizing is that Mike has enough time to scan the usual places for these listings.

Like almost everything else in life I can either choose to participate or ignore it. As to these posts littering up the forum..... compared to a lot of crap that gets posted here and eats up disk space and bandwidth, at least this has some value and the intention is positive.

Individual threads definitely - we can always just not read them by choice, as the titles make it pretty clear what they are.

Having individual threads makes it easier to find information on cars that have come up for sale before (I've posted adverts that have been discussed before, and members have kindly linked to the previous thread).

Its also easier to know which commentary is about which car - with all the cars in one thread, valuable information like visit write-ups will get confused or missed.

All the people who complain about forum etiquette and post style are getting annoying. Don't you have better things to do with your time than critique others' communication style? What makes your view of how it should be done so correct?
