Default Question on Mounting Fuel Rails

When I removed my fuel rails, I don't remember ever seeing ever the rubber buffers that are supposed to be on the 4 threaded fuel rail studs. I never actually took the studs out of the intake-they're still in place. It doesn't seem likely that all 4 would have deteriorated and fallen off without a trace. Looking at them, the upper part of the studs doesn't seem anywhere near long enough for a buffer, the fuel rail bracket, a washer, and the nut. Were the buffers always used?

I have read that only very early 87's had them, my 87 does not.

My early '87 does not have rubber bushes, but it does have thick alloy discs under the fuel rail mounts.

The rubber buffers are only on early '87s.

If your intake has threaded studs on the fuel rail mounting 'ears' then you don't need no stinkin' rubber buffers.
