Where are the racers from the NW? Havent heard from any of them since the the Laguna race 2 years ago. Dean's old blue 5 liter racer that hit the wall, the maroon broken transmission enduro racer?

Where are those guys??

Chuck (kiln red track car) is out of racing for now...Ken has the kiln red racer at his place, awaiting something..maybe just someone to drive it??. Ken's white car is up and running with essentially stock motor and his wife is in the process of getting her SCCA license. His personal track car is still in progress awaiting some finalization details on his supercharger setup.

John Davis' blue track car is going strong, but is also waiting on the supercharger stuff.

Mine is getting there. Did the megasquirt conversion, fine tuning it before hitting the dyno. I also need to finish off all the little interior stuff to pass SCCA tech inspection. It'll be at Spokane May 9 for some testing and tuning as will John Davis' blue car. I'm also thinking of oiling changes as the black widows current status has re-enforced the oiling issue in my mind...

There are rumors that another well known local may be picking up a brown, oh so brown old bugger to turn into a track car???? details to follow I'm sure. ....

Thanks tom . I wondered if Ken would get the car back together and race with us again. I knew Chuck was in a holding pattern, but wondered what happened to the car. Looks like Ken is going to take over the helm? blue car sterling has? (but what will be done with all the parts? New racer?? when??

Lets go boys, time to get back down to thunderhill!

Ken is singlehandedly spearheading the campaign to get more folks into the SCCA. The blue car (Dean Krentz's old one (although salvageable) was gutted and now sits behind the his shop. Many of those parts made it onto his new racer (PorKen's old iris blue 80ish 928) that is fully transformed. He also found an old bugger white car that is fully converted to a SCCA spec racer (his wife drives that one). He found another old bugger brown car for Dick Pierson who decided to go another route and a prominant NW 928er may acquire that one to track. Ken also got Chucks old kiln red one and will probably get that one back up to running condition..

Yup Tom is correct on that.

Ken (who bought Dean Krenz's car) now has Chuck's (kiln) track car. And has finished a car for his wife to drive/race and he is building his from the ground up too.

Chuck's racer had some serious problems though! I went down there for a visit and chat and they told me that the car ran like crap unless warm, and you couldnt touch the trottle. Then you had to push a cold start button, but you couldnt hold it or it would stall, you would have to push it for a brief moment then release etc. As well the car wouldnt turn off without hitting the kill switch :O
Ken had already spent hours trying to track down the problems.
The car was L-Jet and had the TEMP II sensor in the bridge fail. Instead of just pulling the sensor and putting a new/good used one in, they spliced the two wires for the temp sensor to the cold start switch in the console. The car would run like crap because it had no idea what the engine temp was. We fixed that, and reinstalled a AAV and wired the AAV and Cold start valve back in, along with the thermo time switch.
As to the turn off issues well the exciter wire for the altenator didnt have a light bulb in it, so the exciter wire was keeping the relays activated. Put a test light inline of the wire and fixed the problem.

Hopefully next year the 928 racer landscape will look like this:
1) Ken Osage
2) Betty Osage
3) John Davis
4) Tom Middleton
5) Marty Lackner (sp?)
6) Colin Jensan

I may be in there in the 7th spot as Ken has a '79 5 speed that was purchased by a friend who decided later to go in on an GT-1 Vette rather than build a 928 from the ground up.

This list doesn't take into account Chuck's car which Ken's brother in law purchased but has decided not to race. The car is at Ken's house and will hopefully be picked up by a local enthusiast to race along with the group. I think now that Colin was able to trouble shoot some of the wiring, that it'll be a turnkey racer soon.

Ken has talked with the local SCCA, and it sounds like if he can round up 5 cars that we can have our own class, wouldn't that be cool.

I don't know if Marty from Oregon or Colin would plan on racing in SCCA, but if we have our own class it might work for everyone. As it is, there are going to have some seriously different ways of making horsepower between cubes and boost.

Adam, I would be keen on the SCCA depending on prices etc.
I doubt I would have the time to be fully competative, IE every race.

But I would love to go out to the track with John and Ken and see the look on their faces as I fly by them with the turbos

Sounds like I may have to install a GO BABY GO button along with the supercharger to ward off those twin turbos.

You just might John, you just might. Too bad for you turbo boost is easier to increase.
Well that and with the setup I am doing I couldnt add anything else to the system which might increase cyl pressure Though I know you could.

But first you need an EFI system!

BTW here is a teaser.
