Default Caster out, will that make front tires rub??

I have 18's on my 1988 S4, and they rub.

But realized that prior to these rims, I had the alignment set so the caster was as straight up as possible, making the steering very nimble, not the classic heavy 928 feel.

But now with the 18's the steering is very quick and nimble, but a bit too much, ruts in the road, hard to keep it straight.

Was wondering when the caster is staight up, does that bring the front forward or the back backward? (I think stock is 15 deg angle)

Not sure if the caster is adjusted at the top or the bottom.

If the top, then that would push the rims forward causing the tires to rub.

Caster (and camber) is adjusted at the bottom under the lower control arm.

OE settings for caster is 3' 30" +30" (SO basically 3.5* ~ 4.0*).

I doubt caster would affect the stance enough to cause rubbing. What is your wheel width on the fronts and what are the offsets on the wheel?

Just saw the link. The offsets should be okay. Can you determine where the rubbing is occuring? Inside, outside, full lock, only on bumps?

Only on bumps, cuts the front. If looking at the driver side of the car, and you put a clock on the wheel, the 11:00 is where the tire hits.

Wiht the old rims, I had the spring adjuster as far down as I could go.

Now I have it lifted up so I can put two fingers betweent the tire and the fender.

But once it goes past that, cut!

And I would like one day to lower with eicbach springs, but doubt that will be an option now

FWIW, if you have rubbing issues with ET50 fronts, either you running larger than 225's or your ride height is too low, or the combination. 165mm yeilds no rubbing on 225's with ET50. LINK

Read about 225's on ET50 (at 8" wide wheel) here. Found I had to dial in the ride height to eliminate rubbing. It worked. What's your front ride height?

About "2 fingers" space, which looks high.

Would love to have the tires even with the fenders, but doubt that is an option.

And even if I raise it more, worried at the track it will rub on hard cornering.

I think if you want the rubbing to go away, you will need to get something with more ET than 50 on the front. That or roll the fender lip up a bit. Stock, the fenders bend straight inward towards the tire

I've heard the front fenders don't "roll" well because they're aluminum rather than steel.

I tried the "bat" but no luck, some race shops have a roller the attaches to the axle, and your roll it back and forth and increase the pressure to create a smooth roll. But still run the risk of cracking the paint.

That is my last thing I want to do, as I think something is out of adjustment, and want to make sure everything is o.k. first.

Here is the web site that says my rims fit, white 928 has my rims on it.

So they think offset is o.k.

What will bolt on and what will actually work may be different. The website you reference makes no mention of tire size or ride height. Either/both are critical to getting the wheels to fit in the fender while driving. There are plenty of guides on what offsets are required to actually drive OK, and it looks like the WheelEnhancement guys aren't familiar with the minimum 55-57mm requirement. They are in the business of 'expanding' the market for what they sell to include anything that will bolt on.

Quick Reply: Caster out, will that make front tires rub??
