Yeah, after the TV exposure I can see explaining to my chairman why my non-tenured butt was off playing 928 hooky on a Thursday. (not like I have 10+ weeks of vacation that I'm never gonna use....)

I was a bit bummed I couldn't stay for the firing but kids will throw wrenches in your plans sometimes. Just glad to see it all actually come together and happen so quickly. Amazed how my TB/WP job took 15 hours but the entire engine swap only took about 10 hours.

Default Leon or maybe Lazarus ?

Fantastic effort by Mark and all the SoCal crew. I am stunned by how great that car looks !! What a funky color !! I do not think I have ever even seen that paint, maybe on an old 911 somewhere, yeah ,that's where. Anyway , Mark I am in for one of those components..you choose $100-$150 ish. Is it a 5 speed ?? I was not playing along lately.. BigProps to the 928 Mantlers !!!

Well done.

Glad to hear, this is a good outcome. Might I suggest a close inspection of the fuel lines. BTW, I consider claybar as a last resort before a respray. It WILL take some of the paint off. Try wash, wax, light color buff first.

We did address all the fuel lines. I tried some clay bar on a small section and the results were amazing.

Clay bar does not remove paint or clear coat, only contaminants attached to the paint including overspray! An easy google search will confirm this. Most good detailers start the detail process with a good clay bar.

Folks, some of you have bought into the 'clay bar isn't an abrasive' marketing mantra. I have news for you, it's made of clay, which is a silicate, which is an abrasive any way you want to cut it(no pun intended). Some commercial or pro clay bars are pretty fine grade, but the consumer clay bar you would get at the Pep boys is pretty course grade. It's made that way because coarse grade clay bar cuts dirt and things under that dirt better than fine grade. It does this by 'abrading' the surface over which it is drawn.

Many pro clay bars are used with a surfactant, just like extra fine wet sand paper. Go ahead and keep believing that clay isn't abrasive. It's a free country, everyone gets to think whatever they like. For the rest of you, if you think that drawing a kneeded bar of silicate across your paint isn't abrasive, you're fooling yourself, cause it doesn't pass the smell test. In fact, one of the best uses for a clay bar is (wait for it) paint removal! Yes, it's common in body shops on newly painted cars to use clay bars to remove overspray where no paint was supposed to go. I don't rely on Google for answers, I actually test things before posting most of the time. I've tested clay bar, and it will remove paint and clear.

Doc is correct....

Clay will easily remove overspray...Clear and base!
I found Yellow and Blue are less aggressive than the Red clay, the new Elastrofoam (new clay substitute) is very scratchy!

For a good lubricant I like woolite in distilled water in my spray bottle.

Got news for you, polish contains abrasives also!! Clay bar is less abrasive than polish and SHOULD be used with a spray lubricant. I am sure there are different grades of clay bar, just like there are different grades of polish, it is up to the consumer to get the right one. If your car is perfect then there is no need for polish or clay bar, but most 25+ year old cars can benefit from both, especially a series of polish done by a professional. Overspray is an contaminant that sits on the surface where it isn't suppose to be, just like sap, bugs, ect, that is why it gets removed with a clay bar!
