I'm 2004 and remember a lot of those names. I've moved on car wise but I still visit the 928 forum on a daily basis.

Thanks Mr. Kelly for this post. As all things from back in the day, and maybe a softening of the hard edges over time, miss the old times and camaraderie.

18 years 10 months.
In that time five 928s, two Cayenne Turbos and one 911, successful launch of the 928 Leather Shop, evolution to the Classic 9 Leather Shop, and then a super successful and thoroughly enjoyable retirement.
Much of this owing to folk on this forum.
My thanks to all of you.

Dont forget returning your GTS to supercar status,
with a fresh rebuild of that clapped out nasty funky suspension.
To new Bilstien shocks with stock springs.

Rob, Thanks for the many interior carpet and leather kits you have provided over the years.

Been here since 2001. Still have mine, but most of my fleet is Mercedes now, and nobody fixes my car but me.

I was viewing Porschfans when I bought my 928S2 in 1997. This picture was taken after I drove it home on the day of purchase. The car has aged better than I have !

. Had the same car ever since... my first go-to site ever since !

And thanks to you for your expertise and help.
Yes. It was nasty. Koni shocks with some off the wall springs and spacers.
Not to mention the missing parts.
In Atlanta "Hey Rob, I think something's terribly wrong. The whole axle is moving back and forth when you take off from a stop".
A lot of swearing when we got it up on the lift that day.

Truth be told .
For all the 928s I have fixed.
Yours stands out for me.

The time I will never forget was the look on your face,
when you got out of your GTS after coming back from your test ride,
after we fixed the suspension.
Your jaw was on the floor....as you knew right away your wife would NOW enjoy riding along with you in your GTS.

The change in how your car drove was so dramatic from what rolled in to what you went home with.

Rob Thank you for that,
and the cherry on top was,
when you got back to your home, many miles away.
I got a phone call from a very happy customer,
who`s car had been returned to Supercar status
that's my pay right there.
And I am an Old guy too...

I've never thought of myself as an old timer, but I go back to the Porsche Fans days in the late 90's. (I still have a digital archive of '97-'01)

My kids were 7 and 10 when I got on the email lists, now they're 29 and 32. I guess that makes me old... Oh, and put up my 928 website in 1999 (the last century).

Discovering the email list was one of the biggest highlights of my early 928 ownership.
And sitting down in the evening to read it was always an enjoyable part of my day back then.
The crazy cast of characters and witty repartee was just something so rare and special.
My wife would hear me laughing out loud, and ask me "what in the world are you reading?".
I remember being so disappointed when John Dunkle announced the new Forum format.
At the time, I wasn't familiar with forums and thought it could never be as good as the email list.
So I totally resisted joining for the first couple years, but then the email traffic gradually died.
Obviously, the forum is a much more powerful platform, but I do still miss those early days.
My first 928 was an 84 Auto, and the first parts I ordered for it were from 928 Specialists.
While I was on the phone with Jeannie, she told me about a little cookout they were hosting.
So my very first 928 event was "Sharks In The Harbor" at Lake Altoona, north of Atlanta.

Yes, bought my first 928S4 in 1996 and was on old PorscheFans and found Phil’s 928s4vr site and read every web page, then migrated over to RL. People come and go, but always a fun and interesting time!
