Chief VA,
Exactly what rixter said a few pages ago. It started around $6K or so. I offered $4k towards the end-so I assume he got a little more than that. From what I remember, the other po said he bought it from an older gentlemen who let the car sit on a side of a street for many years-the interior damage he stated was from the constant sun beating. I was very weary over the stated mileage as well. I also recall the po saying he restored or modified cars as a hobby (possible mechanic; he had a lift and a few muscle cars sitting around if I recall correctly). Thats all I know.

I've been working with the 84,5,6 years, but I think the tank is common to your car also. Tanks are plastic and are also expensive.
The gas tank is fairly easy to drop and clean or replace. It is adequately documented in this forum. Four 13mm nuts (require deep socket) holding a pair of metal cross straps.
Plus, a series of hoses need to be removed, some as you lower it.
Its possible remove the feed line and strainer and to drain it from below before lowering the tank. Its also possible to remove the tank level sensor from the top. If you know all your hose are new, than it might be possible to clean in place, but I've not done it that way.

Thanks again for the replies and advice. I used the search and found "Sharkskins 928" pages and used his tips to put in my new gas tank that I got from 928 worldwide. Installation was pretty easy and straight forward and I replaced all my old hoses at the same time. No more leaks. Now I'm driving it around enjoying it!!! The repair shop wanted $900 to do this. It took me two hours. Thanks Rennlist!

Yeah, nice car. Now stop taking it to a shop. Everything on the 80 cars is easy. The wiring is also not too complex when you have wiring issues. If you have the original manual for the car, the paint code should be stamped in there too.

Glen, no I'm not CPO. I like the KC Chiefs and I seem to be the only fan left in Virginia. I love the look of your black 928. Makes me want to paint this one black...but I probobly won't because it shows every flaw in my body work . Original color was a choclate brown...I like the repaint color that is on it now.

OK...been searching the browns because mine has been painted a non-original brown. I am liking this new brown since I will be doing a repaint. Check out the Brown macadamia metallic on the site. I like it.
