Default "Racing Timing Belts" by Gates for the 944

Check out what Travis from Rennbay has sourced for the 944 crowd:

https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...-day-sale.html

Any interest from the 928 world for a similar product for our cars?

If it's been through a series of tests (temp, strength, etc) and comes with a guarantee.

It would be awesome to have a stronger longer lasting TB

It looks like the added material is only on the outer skin. Not sure how that will prevent the belt teeth from normal wear and tear?

Someone asked if the teeth were reinforced as well since a lot of failures come from them getting stripped off. Travis says that they are indeed reinforced so it sounds like a good product, I would still like to hear about some tests from it just since it is a new piece that is vital to the car.

Yea, I read it again and it does state that the teeth are reinforced as well.

Curious as to why they can build the belt for a 8 valve but not 16?

Wouldn't this belt have exactly the same width and tooth spacing as our belts?

Because Travis of Rennbay hasn't ordered any

Per Travis (posted in that thread) he's already working on the 928 belt.

It sounds like Travis is doing set production runs, these are not going to be regular Conti products sold through normal channels.
He fronted the money to have 300 belts made.

AFAIK, yes.

The 928 (944) belt* has a weird tooth spacing. 3/8" or L (light), IE a chain pitch. I couldn't find another belt that has the same spacing.

Based on the 944 price, I'd guess that the 928 belt would be $200-$250? Combined with a PKsn'r, would it be a 'lifetime' belt?

Is that the pitch/length we need? I can get pricing from my Gates belt rep and insure that they are kevlar reinforced. What about steel reinforcment in the belt?

L (3/8") spacing is a standard belt spacing as is T10 (.3937"), otherwise it'll be a special spacing.

Interesting as I talked to a lot of Gates people today and they do not know they even make a standard belt for the 928 never mind a racing version 8>)
When I told them that I had 30 sitting in my store they wanted to know the number.
They scurried off to check there files.
Talking to the right folks now so we will see what can be done.
