Todays BUMMER.....
So I was washing Sharky today after the dyno workout yesterday + small roadtrip (100 miles)....& neighbor comes over and noticed my "for sale" stickers on the rear window (pathetic attempt at selling to appease the wife)....so we start talking.....it turns out SHE really likes 928's and always has....she asked lots of good questions & seemed honestly interested......
So why am I bummed...... I really don't want to sell sharky (don't tell the wife...the few of you who are local)..... I told her my price and why thats my price and she seemed interested......
SO in true 928er masochist fashion I called Roger and ordered an X pipe for Sharky, but only since Roger hooked me up with a sweet deal.....
The more I think about it.....its still a smoking deal for the "buyer".....for such a sorted out, top performing 928.....where else can you get a 286whp vehicle with classic style and 170mph performance for less than a Honda Civic...
For those that don't know this already...yes I am crazy.....

Will she be a good owner and would you be ok with give the car up to her?
I agree, once you find a good shark it is really really hard to even consider letting it go.
Good luck with whatever you decide....

Do you want me to repeat my oft told story about how I sold my beloved Porsche, and always regretted it ?
Or do you want me to tell you that there are always more out there, and it is possible to move on ?
Strangely enough, both are true. I want you to keep that car, because I know that it makes you happy. If you really think that selling it will put you in a position where you will eventually be able to buy something even nicer, then do it. Just be prepared to deal with feelings that adult males think they are too mature to experience.

Sounds to me like you should be telling your wife what your telling all of us. "You don't really want to sell it!" If you do sell it what will replace it? Another 928, a newer model or a lesser car? (Any other car is a lesser car! )
Most times the wives can be understanding. . .

In terms of replacing sharky....I already have two 928's + a daily driver.... The reality is sharky is my street 928 and the widow is my track 928..... Do I "need" two 928's.....not really....but just about as much as I need "one"....nobody ever "needs" a 928.....its all about WANT....
I think my wife understands the amount of effort I put into selling Sharky.... Her opinion tends to vary between "your F?!?!ing cars" to "I don't care as long as it makes you happy!"
So I would say I'm pretty lucky

Just keep the ads current and the price high, that will keep both of you happy.

Spoken from someone who understands!!!!
Maybe I'll try fleabay in a month or so to see how little interest I can stir up...
BUT I will still install and test the X pipe 1st!! Yes I am a masochist

Just declare that it's some super secret special edition and price it accordingly. I see ads on ebay or craigslist from time to time that can only be explained by this.
"It's a special anniversary edition built for Dr. Porsche's Dachshund and they only made six of them. It's never been documented before, but I'm telling the truth and I'll only sell it for 10X the value of it's non-special edition counterparts"
Problem solved.

If you do the price plus favors, the whole neighborhood might start pointing and sneering as you drive by.
Just advertise the car for what you would be willing to give it up for no matter what the market value is. Then if is sells...you got what you were willing to take for it.
On that note, I would be willing to take $85,000 as is for my 94 Iris Blue/Classic Gray GTS 5 speed with 52K miles. There are still a few small things that need attention, once sorted I'm sure the price will go up...so, hurry and get it while it's cheap
