Default Track day at Buttonwillow Raceway Park

For those who (1) can take a Friday off, and (2) don't relegate their 928 to being a garage queen and (3) would like to take their 928 out on a race track that will provide great fun to the driver, stretch the 928's legs out and do it in a safe environment, then Speedventures is having a track day at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on March 27, 2009 (speedventures.com). In my 3 years of taking various 928's to the local tracks, I have seen maybe a total of 4 928's other than my own (one was Mark Anderson's; I think Jim Bailey was out once; and another guy in a brown older 928, don't recall his name)...too bad because these cars are quite fabulous to run on a track when racing is not the issue (so we don't have to worry about crunching our cars...) and you just want to see what the 928 will do and test your own driving skills (which are quite different on a track than on the road)...these events usually fill up fast. Aaron at Speedventures runs a great event, low key and they have instructors available to help if you want. Anyway, hope to see another 928 on the track for fun.

I'm already signed up.

I was out at Willow Springs (Big Track) with NASA last weekend for my first HPDE and had more fun than should be allowed. I highly recommend it, even for the "nice" cars. In my group were 3 vettes, two M3's an Audi, etc. I saw the Speedventures guys (including Les) out at Willow a few weeks back and saw many high end cars, so I don't think injuring your baby is that much of a concern.

Photos of that session and last weekends can be seen at http://motorsports.powersphotographics.com .

See you in two weeks, Les!

You should have come down for last weekend, Brian. Scott came down and was a huge help for my first time at the track. I'm going to try and work in a day at T-hill this spring as well.

What a great day! Thanks to Les for the advice and help and for the ride in his car after session 4 that showed me how to shave quite a bit of time off in session 5.

Steve,
Wish I could have been there, but somebody forgot the keys to the race trailer so we had to borrow ramps to get the car off the trailer and that someone left after session 4...next time we'll trade rides in each others cars. Glad you got a chance to ride a whole 25 minute session with me to see how the supercharger changes the car (of course, a GT transmission and GTS suspension helps, too...). How were your times?

You should sneak away to norcal one of these days...... For some reason I don't mind missing work to drive on the track? I wonder why

Best time showing right now is 2:27.897 but for some reason session 5 is not listed in there.
