Lots of ticket writing going on in North San Diego
Just wanted to share my observations that I have seen A LOT of people pulled over recently in north county San Diego. The traffic police presence has increased substantially. The conspiricist in my surmises this is part of a budget-gap filler.
Anyone else notice this phenomenon?
Be aware, and be careful out there.

Last weekend I noticed a high concentration of CHiP's on I-805, south of I-8 through CV. I am guessing 10 Crown Vic's at least. I have never seen that many concentrated in that distance before and yes, I am guessing revenue enhancement.

The cities need to generate additional income during this economic slowdown. This is the easiest way.
This has absolutely nothing to due with increasing public safety.

They put in a brand new stop light cam at the corner of Genesee and Torrey Pines. I was sitting there the other day waiting to turn left, and with all the people doing a rolling stop to turn right on red, I thought I was in a dance club, there were so many strobe lights going off.

I've been traveling on the east coast for the past 2 weeks, and I can definitely tell an increased presence out here as well. I drove from Alexandria through D.C. on to Baltimore and was amazed at how many revenue collectors, I mean traffic enforcers I saw out here - I lived here for 3 years and never saw it as bad as I did the last few days. Definitely a good time to keep it slow and steady.

Just read about a research paper "Red Ink in the Rearview Mirror".
When times get tough, cops get ticket happy. The researchers found that a 1% point drop in local government revenue meant a 0.32% point increase in traffic tickets the following year.

But the roads are sooooo much safer now.
Wish I had HUD speed display like the Corvettes so I don't have to wear out my eyeball sockets looking down at the speedo every few seconds.

Georgia is in the process of passing new "super speeder" laws. Over 85 on any road, over 75 on any two-lane road, gets an extra $200 state fine on top of the existing state and local fines.
I will have to say that even with the $200 increase in fines, Georgia's speeding tickes are still MUCH lower than in most of the country. The last one that I got cost me $132 for 18 mph over the limit.

TICKET GALLORES...
Just like Donald says i too observed first hand this morning around 9:30 am heading 5 north using the inner side of the exit lane towards the 56 east.Something was telling me to slow down .I just sped off about 120 mph a few minutes ago and just slowed down towards the 56 east.My instinct must have kicked in and i have seen chip car or a motorcycle chip waiting there like 3 days ago.Well this morning i saw the first moto chip using his gun as i had slowed to about 70-72 with a few other cars cruising by.....i was about to gun it but decided not to. Well another 200 yards another moto chip doing the same...I guess they figured once you pass the first moto chip then everyone is going to run it.damn lucky i was about to as everymorning i cut to the inside of exit ramp 56 and hit about 100+ cutting back out on the 5 north from the inside exit ramp....

We're driving on roads that had the same speed limits they did in 1970. We have incredible brakes, most with ABS. We have incredibly better suspension and tires. Go figure! I don't know if any of you have driven an original 1970 vehicle lately...they were unsafe at any speed! My '70 Chevelle, with the original front disc brakes, would not lock up the brakes with any pedal pressure you could generate. Stock, those cars are pieces of crap. Thank god for "resto rods".

And hasn't for years!

There are a lot of idiots out there with licenses that wouldn't have been
out there 30-40 years ago. The speed limits are set for the lowest common
denominator, which does give Law Enforcement a lot of room for revenue
collection.

No cell phones in the 70's. I cruised 80 in my 70's muscle car. Ride height was set for drag racing and front end would start floating over 100.
Last month no patrols spotted from OKC to Dallas and back. Last weekend there were 5 spotted both ways, and all 5 had someone pulled over. Half had radar off while stopped.

Sounds like the guy that busted us last Saturday. Had his radar off until the 1st two cars passed him and he must have been in a panic to turn it on. He zapped my car.
