Repeat many times...no allthread allowed in the garage...no allthread allowed in the garage. That stuff has to stay inside the house (no matter how good it works for what you are doing), with the hot glue gun, so that the garage doesn't get contaminated with Mickey Mouse.

This thread is putting another nail in my "I want a stroker" coffin. The only saving grace I have is that I am on the east coast and not 10 minutes away from Greg's shop, or I would be in big trouble with my ball-n-chain. Greg sent me a price list a few months ago, and damn, I need a much bigger piggybank to bust open!!
Everyday I try to think of a way to get that GB stroker while my car is on the east coast.

Greg-
D'oh! Ok, no more allthread. Is the concern that it's too ghettolicious a way of doing it, or did I risk messing up the bearing cages, or ???
PS- Ask your wife about powdercoating.

I had figured on getting an S4 motor from another Rennlister, then sending it to you with a down payment, but then the dead spiraling economy completely derailed my side business that generated ALL of my car hobby funds.
I'll have to wait and see what happens to my side business, but as of the last 2 months, it is dead as a hammer.

When I did the intake on my '90GT motor, I ended up using a chrome silver and clear over the top of that. Looks good but it's far from a perfect match. Greg managed to scare up a new-in-box 1991 S4 intake side cover that's never been in an engine compartment, so I'm trying to get it matched as close as possible at Orange COunty platers. The samples will be ready next week.
NOS intake vs. raw aluminum:
Note the pearlescence in the factory paint (I presume it's paint...) Going to be tough to match....

Mkay, special sauce for Friday afternoon- Greg just forwarded me the cam specs for the grind we're trying and said to post them up in the spirit of sharing some numbers.
Stock GT cam specs:
Intake opens: 3o CA after TDC
Intake closes: 42o CA after BDC
Lift/Duration .393"/258 degrees
Exhaust opens 30o CA before BDC
Exhaust closes 5o CA before TDC
Lift/duration: .353"/236 degrees
These particular GT-based stroker cam specs:
Intake lift: .420
Intake Duration: 263
Exhaust Lift: .380
Exhaust Duration: 256

Interesting stuff. I believe my cam combo is going to be slightly different (due in part to the lack of GT exhaust cams as a starting point on my engine).
It will be fun to see if the cam difference gives a different shape to the torque curve - it looks like yours will likely slightly out-breath mine at high rpm, but that might come with a trade-off elsewhere. fun fun fun.

Rob/GB thanks for sharing, I was very curious what you were going to go with. The specs below
are for my motor, they are similar in that the lifts aren't huge but the Duration has grown a lot. I'm
experimenting too, these specs were made up by Elgin Cams for my stroker S.C. mtr . I sure hope they
do the trick but if they don't it's really nice to know that I'll have a source to fall back on with the new
cam grinds that Greg is now able to come up with. Good thread, keep it coming..
Joe,
Cams re-profiled on GT cores
Intake lift: .412
Intake Duration: 274
Exhaust Lift: .388
Exhaust Duration: 270

> Hopefully it'll come at the expense of low end torque. I don't need any more of that.
I'm a bit of a torque-*****. For romping around town, it's just really hard to argue with ~430+ rwtq for entertainment value.
