Ah, Triumph lives on...maybe Norton will come back too after many fraudulent and failed attempts to do so.

This pic is my lovely and me up in the beatiful Glacier National Park in northern MT. I was going to crop it, but the backdrop was too magnificent.

Cheers,

I used to ride a lot. Had a GSXR1100. Then replaced it with a CBR900. Went through a divorce. She got the truck, I got the CBR. Needing a car, I ended up selling the Honda and bought my 928S4. Now the only bike I ride is a Specialized S-Works E5.

Malcolm:

Yes, I've heard about the latest Norton revival. I supported the racing team when they were running the rotary years back with Trevor Nation. My Mk III is still running points, etc.

Here's the new Norton:

I have a '98 Honda Pacific Coast
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Pacific_Coast

Kind of boring but it's a great commuter bike, which is what I use it for.

Before that was an '84 Honda Ascot
http://www.motorcycleminnesota.com/110103/10/image1.jpg

A lot more fun, but I wore it out and it didn't have any storage for the commute.

When I was a kid I had a '74 Hodaka Wombat:

And then a '77 Super Rat:

The Super Rat is still in my dad's barn if someone wants it.

Small world Bill..............I was at Donnington Park in 1990 where the rotary Nortons raced.

Boyer did (and may still do) an excellent replacement for the points etc on the bike........it did improve starting and mpg back then.

In some respects I wish I still has the bike MCN 850N was the registration which I always thought was very appropriate; almost a private plate.

The registration in the UK stays with the vehicle.

Hey Bronto,
Did you ever experience a Super Combat Wombat? 14k redline!

Wish I were still out west, I'd take you up on the offering of the Super Rat...

Was the Ascot the A or the V version???

My first "barn find" (no actual pictures yet) I'm restoring one of these.
1984 Honda Ascot - VTwin 500cc Shaft drive, 6-speed. My first bike:

Meanwhile, a friend of mine has loaned me his Yamaha FJ1200 to ride around. He won a 2009 Softail last year, doesn't have room in the garage for both bikes.

I'm talking to a different fried about buying his 1995 Kawasaki ZX-11. One owner with 15k miles:

No, I never rode one. The one I always wanted was the 250cc they released shortly before they went under. We were Hodaka people because we lived in a rural area and there was a dealer within a 10 minute drive (they also sold "indians", in it's last incarnation. And lawnmowers). Or was the 250 the "Super"? Leno's got a regular CW

The Ascot was the V-twin, as per the photo. Great, fun bike.

I wanted something fast and cheap, found a good deal on 2000 Yamaha R1 a couple of years ago. Provides an adrenalin fix when needed.

My wife hates it, but the kids are grown and I have life insurance

A co-worker had one of these...sold it for a good sum a while back..the same bike recently resurfaced..and sold for a rumored 6 figure sum...
