I heard somewhere that Audi specs to only snug up control arm while on the lift, then torque to spec once back on the ground.

Does anyone do this with the 928?

That is suppose to be the proceedure for the 928's as well. It's been discussed before.

Must've missed that discussion. Good to know, thanks Andrew.

I did final tightening on the ground as well, also I tried to put the a-arm mounts back exactly where they came from. There were still a few measurements that were a degree or two off after it settled and I went in for an alignment.

The final tightening on the ground applies to the rear bracket. This is because the bushing that the rear bracket encloses is free whereas the front bushing is bonded inside the arm (unless it is broken, which can happen).

"Coat threads with
3ptimoly HT (do not
apply Optimoly HT to
bolt shank).* Screw in
until only 2 threads
are visible. Do not
tighten to 120 Nm (88
Fltb) until assembly
is completed and
springs have settled
