Default backed into last night

Out with my lady last night. All decked out in suit and tie, and headed for the symphony. Driving into the parkng garage and headed up the ramps. A long line of cars behind the Crown Victoria just ahead of me. I am keeping my distance as the Crown Victoria goes straight instead of turning up the ramp. I can't really tell what they are doing, when they stop and start backing up. I am stopped with no place to go. I laid into my horn, but they still keep coming. BAMM! Crunches the nose of the '89. I thought at that moment if there is a god, please do not let me KILL this MF. Well, I'm not in jail, as this 75 YO women gets out says shes sorry admits fault and gives me her insurance stuff.

I still think I may need to kill something though just to feel better.

Justin would be a good choice.

Look on the bright side - newly painted front bumper.

Roger, I am afraid that the paint won't be able to be matched, then it will look like crap.

Justin who?
No he would normally be a good choice, but I don't want to known to pick on defenseless animals

This is somewhat off topic but... are the 928 color codes covered in the Dupont color matching system? I've had pretty good luck with body shops that religiously use the Dupont mixing formulas based on the true color codes. Specifically, british racing green [as defined by Coventry].

I'm sorry to hear about this incident, and hope it can be fixed without trace.

Here is what I do when I see any Crown Vics:

so you will reverse the roles in that TV commerical about 'accident forgiveness'?

"I've got your forgiveness right here" , as you beat the crap out of that little old lady with HER purse.

nice body matched bumperette's

what kind of prep did you have to do to them to get the paint to stick?

There's a guy in the Boxster forum who sells them. Otherwise, painting them entails using a method similar to painting bumpers or wings (i.e. adhesion promoter, and a ****load of flex additive in the clear.)

Sterling, you've got a pretty good bodyshop referral, right? John you have plenty of cars to choose from, so a longer 'fix' lets you gather more rental days if you choose correctly. Just remind her insurance co that you were drive a $75k classic car, and expect them to rent a similar class of vehicle while yours is getting freshened.

We need a group buy on some BF horns that can go in the same area where the existing ones are. Need to stretch the capability of the horn relay a bit more. I don't mind the little city-horn to remind a sleeping or cell-phone-yacking motorist to pay attention, but for accident avoidance I really want the other guy to actually wake up and do something RIGHT NOW. I hate shopping the in J C Whitneys of the world, but maybe that's a place to start. So, just louder car prns in the same location, or add a couple more and louder tomes to what's there? Do we need a poll for this?

Interesting that you talk about the horns Dr. Bob. I have both the trumpet type and the round kind and for my money the trumpet type horns are much louder. I was (and am) going to replace the round horns on the '89 with the trumpet type, although in this case, I really don't think it would have done any good. I think the 75 year old woman was listening to some cranked-up rap or techno stuff and wouldn't have heard ANY horn over that noise. JK
