Hi Glen,

Sorry I didn't see this reply.

Here is something that should help you. I am putting the finishing touches on a new product line using the Provent called "SharkVent". It is a complete system with everything you need to install a Provent on a 928. I have finished the 85-95 Versions and working on the schematics and details on the 78-84 versions (they use the same mount as the 85-86).

Here are a couple of pics that will help you with your install. Please excuse the crappy pics of the 86 engine, it was roasted but makes a good mockup engine :-) There is also a schematic below for the 85-86 that will help you with the plumping aspects of the install. Below that is a pic of a GTS SharkVent X System we finished last week.

There are more details concerning the SharkVent CVS on our website. Visit www.sharkvent.com or look under "Performance" then "Crankcase Venting" or "928 Specialists Kits" on our website

As I said on the phone I can supply you with the bracket or any of the items you need since you already have a Provent.

There is no category for "crankcase evacuation systems on your site Dave.

The Provent is there under misc. but not the whole setup as shown above. At least not where I can find it.

I knew I forgot something :-) I created the new Category, but forgot to add it to the menu. I will get on that ASAP. THANKS!

You can now go to www.sharkvent.com , or visit our webite and look on the main page under "News" you will see a link , in "928 Specialists Kits" OR just search SharkVent and you will find them.

EDIT: Fixed, you can now also find them under "Performance" then "Crankcase Venting"

Dave, does the '78 setup simply connect inline with the existing breather?

In a nutshell the 78-84 will connect to the breather line from the Oil Cap, then the other side of that hose that goes to the Air Guide or Air Filter Box (depending on year) is then blocked off (or removed). That feed is Tee'd with lines coming from the Cam Towers using adapters and both fed to the Provent. The oil return on those years is tee'd into the "drain" hose that goes from the filler neck down to the oil pan. There is a check valve that keeps the crankcase from back pressuring the ProVent. A Breather Filter is used on the Air Out from the Provent, OR an optional hose is used to connect the Provent to the Air Pump.

I hope to have the schematics and details done on the 16V Versions later this week.

Here is a pic of the SharkVent Mount on a 16V engine.
The Next Pic shows the Provent mounted on the 16V.

Dave,

Here is a Winter Project I did a few years ago and is an example of how I vent the Cam Towers. This is on my Euro S Twin Screw.

I got a little carried away (also did both sides) since I had a bunch of adapters on hand :-)

I'm still debating how to approach this. I don't have an extreme oil problem, just enough mist to keep things including the airbox damp with oil. I think I'm going to start with the baffle plate under the factory separator, and the parts that Carl offers to improve that piece. I'll re-evaluate at that point, and decide whether I need to go further. Will the cam cover caps, like the one on the far right of your last pic, work on a '78 or are those holes not threaded on early cam towers?

Adding baffles etc will slow it down, but unless you remove the oil vapors completely from the intake tract it seems to be a wasted exercise IMHO.

The 78-79 uses a grommet type fitting instead of the thread in fitting on the 80-up.

Dave, I hear you. What it comes down to IMHO is how much is enough. On an NA car that doesn't blow much oil in the first place, the Provent might be overkill. Carl has me scratching my head over the effort expended to improve the separator, followed by connecting fittings from the cam towers almost directly to the airbox. Anyway, enough with the hijack, I'll call when I have some time.

Default Photo of Wear on Tensioner Pad

Sorry took so long to get around taking picture of the wear on my tensioner pads. The car has 170,000 on it. As you can see in the picture, the chain has worn the pad down pretty good, almost to the pins.
