The $4500 89 5sp is NO LONGER...
...Worth $4500.
Intake & cam covers have been removed & re-finished.
New: Knock sensors, throttle switch, vacuum lines, cam chain tensioner pads, fuel lines, flappy actuator, crank sender, cleaned injectors, couple of intake hoses, assorted seals & gaskets- and what I think was the main problem with how this car was running: the ignition control modules. I replaced the amp connectors on both temp sensors, knock sensors and hall sender- I have new connectors for the injectors, but the originals appear to be working. One thing I did do was make a short male-female amp connector pigtail to make the idle controller waaaaay easier to attach.
The car now runs beautifully. Took it for a short drive & checked function of creature comforts- everything works except the remote hatch- including the A/C.
On to the motor mounts & oil pan gasket, then the PC polisher and a little interior detailing.
I have attached a few pics of progress so far. I had a friend of mine media blast the intake & cam covers, then I painted them with Duplicolor ceramic engine primer/paint and used touch-up for the letters. I used the same paint on the cross brace. I used a wire brush attachment on my drill press then a buffing wheel to clean up the cam cover fasteners.
The only real problems with this car is the front bumper cover & one of the fog/driving light lenses.
So, I'm saying this is no longer a $4500 car- more like a $12,500 car.

Awesome!
Any competent body shop can take care of that front bumper.
In fact, look for one of those places that specialize in bumper repairs - Bumper Medic, etc. They'll get it looking new at a fraction of what a body shop will charge.
That style fog light requires replacement of the entire assembly, around $130 if I recall last time I replaced mine. You can't replace just the glass lens The new one will make the other unbroken one look very tired in comparison.
