Growing up in Minnesota taught me how to deal with this when you've recently washed your car.

1. Take a lighter and heat your key.

2. Immediately put it in your lock.

3. Wait 5 seconds and gently try to turn the key. Don't force it. If it doesn't turn, try heating the key again and re-try.

Moving the car inside to a heated area would be great I'm sure, but how does he unlock the car to get into it to move it???

I've tried the lighter/key trick with limited success. Those small butane torches work better, but be careful about melting the plastic on the key.

Yes, the weiner should fit in the keyhole. Why didn't I think of that? That said, I think the warm butt idea is better and I'll save the hamster-sized tool for something else.

I'll use my wife's hair dryer, hot key, and a bottle of de-icer as suggested...and follow up with some WD-40. It worked fine 'till I washed it (my pickup caught fire and burned up under the carport and I wanted to wash the fire extinguisher powder off before it did something nasty).

I still drive it, I just can't lock the doors. Was 9 below yesterday a.m., warmed up to 20 today.

This 928 spent most of its life in Phoenix, AZ...so it doesn't like the cold. On the coldest days the left turn signal doesn't cancel. Other than these, everything else works on the coldest days. I took the fuse out for the headlight motor to avoid issues until Spring.

Remember, in the early 928s considerable tests were done in really cold climates. Probably places with small dinkies and no car washes....someplace like.....uh....I'll stop there. Let's just say..."A state that's not famous for potatoes."

Thanks, all. Alternatively, I've suggested to my wife that she bare her rear on the door....I assure her that, as long as it's dry, it won't stick. But no promises.

BTW, you guys are sometimes crazier than a house full of pet 'coons.

I would also actually recommend NOT using the WD40.

Yes it will disperse the water, its intended purpose. But it will also wash away the lubricant from the factory and may cause the lock to bind abit later.

Instal and use a remote key unlock. Door locks don't need to work.

May I cast my vote AGAINST asking a fat woman to press her *** against your door? Imagine the legal liability, and how are you going to drive to work if her large posterior freezes to your door?

Where was anything said about fat being a requirement? I'd think you'd want a skinny one because there's less insulation so the *** should be warmer, in theory.
