I was thinking more along the lines of restricting oil output or stronger spring inside.

Or pull the hydraulic mechanism out and install a case hardened plug.

If there is no abnormal wear, once set there shouldn't be any adjustment required. The only exception would be if new lifters and cam were used, the breakin may put the lash out of tolerance.

That's why I was saying "Shim", most lash caps I have seen are .060 or .080" much more than 1mm or even .5 mm. We would need .020-.040 to be in the range of a base circle reduction. Then you still have to match up valve stem diameter.

Wonder if someone like Lindsey Racing makes a 944 lash cap for solid lifters that would work for us? Back to google I go.

There was a central purchase of solid lifters for the 924 crowd recently at www.924board.org . May want to check the thread for sources there.

Early 911 engines are "solid" ..They need to be adjusted every 6,000 - 15,000 miles depending on who you believe and much more often on a race engine . The 944 GTR turbo 650 HP 2 valve per cylinder special has windows in the cam housing so you can reach in and check clearance. HOWEVER if the lash caps adjustment needs to be changed you must pull the camshaft ! Since they almost NEVER finished a Transam race they were being rebuilt and shimmed a LOT !

Vacmotorsports.com has 1mm lash caps in 6-9mm diameter size. Double checked with Delta and itls $125 a stick for a base circle reduction, though I may be able to grind them down on that..

Need to see how the oil passage lines up with the bucket being 1mm higher when the valve is closed.
