As much as I like my 928, and it is a failrly nice one, I'd be quicker to drop money on a fully-sorted factory-warranteed dr.bob-proof AMG than on a stroker package that might cost $30-40k all in, and cut the value of this 928 in half.

Of course the Murph or DR SC packages are a lot less than a stroker, but they also risk the wrath of the smog ***** here in tropical kaleefornia. Now, do I really need one of the Merc black specials? Not for poking in L.A. traffic. A poseur car with the tuner wheels and a few badges goes just as well 99+% of the time, unfortunately. Maybe the years are getting ahead of me, but a turnkey reliable car isn't such a bad thing, is it?
What Bob said! $30-40k on a stroker in a $30k GTS, exhaust, do the suspension, wheels/tires, paint it, interior leather and wheels and wa-lah you've got Black Series $ into that bad boy. Difference is, the Black Series will have a warranty for ~4 years. Having said that, do I want a 928 as described? Hell yes!

Lots of posers out there but its hard to do the run of the mill CLK into a Black Series to fool even the most uninformed pedestrian. Bodywork alone would give it away...... People do it though.

Why always a GTS? If you're going to go with a stroker or boost, is there really that much difference to an S4/GT? You can get a nice S4 for less that half the price of a GTS.

But then I'd have to cut it up to put flares/rear cover on it anyway. Back up to the price of a GTS. Then I'd be a poser and I will not be a poser.......

+1 if you are going to modify a car, why start with the most expensive model which offers nothing in advantages for the upgrades (other than the fender flares), or the "status" of saying you own a GTS?

You can fit 295 tires under the S4 rear fenders. That's more than enough for a street car with 500chp. And the lack of the tail strip just means no need to worry about a long piece of warping plastic

Once you've had one (or 3), you fall in love with the flares and the rear bumper. At least I did. The stance, the look.... I love a GTS!

Also, I want something with airbags so that only leaves the 90 and 91 GTs and not only would I have to do flares/bumper but brakes, mirrors and rear spoiler.... wait a minute, I already have all that stuff... Still want a GTS.

If you pay the difference between a good S4 and a good GTS to add flares, you need a new body guy

A 500-600rwhp 928 with add on fender flares is hardly a poser.

The airbags is a good point and does narrow down the options. Not an issue on my end of the pond since I would probably remove them anyway.

Im with Chuck on this

I agree that i had previously thought about buying another GT and adding the flares and rear bumper, plus body colored wing and mirrors, plus brakes. By the time i did all that i could have just had a GTS, and that gives me a bigger engine (Thats also worth more too is i want to sell it and go with a stroker)

The GTS makes much more sense to me now........

I guess to each their own. But isn't wanting aero mirrors that reduce rear visibility and a rear reflector kinda... poser?

Why does this GTS discussion seem to bother a you so much?

BTW, that's not exactly what I would call poser. Poser would be taking an S4/GT, putting GTS flares/bumper/brakes/mirrors/painting the wing...........

Maybe it's a generation thing, to me a poser is putting a Porsche hood badge on a Civic.

I think you might be surprised at how many people there are who would see it and absolutely all that they'd know is that it's black and has four wheels.
