Actually, I don't think it's fair to compare your Black Series to a "run-of-the-mill" AMG. The BS is yet another jump over the AMG cars that are a jump over the normal Mercs.

Have you read about the SL BS? That thing makes your BS CLK look like a bargain!

Car and driver testing the CLK black had it at 3920 lbs (maybe the USA seats?) sticker of $138,000 and one memorable quote..."AARON ROBINSON ..

A light bar, a medic's kit, and carbon-fiber cutters would make the CLK63 complete. I like racer and pace-car replicas, and a knockoff of an F1 safety car is even niftier, especially one with the liveliest engine and handling of any AMG to shade my driveway. But I'm not in the target market of Benz fanatics, so it's tough to see more than a CLK350 with $91,000 in upgrades. Walking past a thoroughbred Aston Vantage or a state-of-the-art Audi R8 would be very hard, indeed. ... "

Probably so. SL BS is outrageous!

Yeah, the figure I quoted probably is with European seats.

Problem is, you couldn't do a BS with $91k and a CLK350? I have driven a Vantage but only sat in the R8. It will blow the Vantange away and has a boat load more interior room than both for those of us that are more vertically gifted then most. 30 mph in 2nd gear, stomp it and light 'em up. The Black Series is the most impressive car I have ever driven. It is scary fast.

Wow. Clk 63 black series. How did you manage to get one of those. I thought you had to know people to get one of those (I'm guessing you do). Those cars are rare. Due to the rarety are you pretty much selling it for what you paid for it?

You are my car hero. Kremit, that gorgeous GTS and a clk black.

That was true when they first came out. Now, they are $40-50k under sticker with low miles. Higher mile track cars are less. I bought it right, used with 200 miles on it shortly after the new wore off the market from the guy who owns Foreign Cars Italia.

Will I still be your car hero when I no longer have any? GTS is already gone and the other two are for sale now.....

Ya just about all of the AMG benz's are monsters......all the 6.3's range from 451-518hp depending on the car its in with 465ftlbs of torque......thats one serious motor....but the big dog is the 6.0L twin turbo V12 in the 65 series with 604hp and 738ftlbs of torque..... I'd imagine you reach a point with those were it just becomes silly very quickly.....

My M3 is rated at 414hp and 295ftlbs in a 3600lb car....but on 100 octane with my the Corsa mufflers it puts down 385whp and 275ftlbs.....which is probably 360whp on or crap 91 octane...thats one wicked ride at 8lbs per HP....but my track 928 with 360hp in 2830lbs is 7.85!!! A drag race between those two would be very interesting....I figure both could run mid 12's with ease.....

Bring on what you call these "AMG" benzes. I will dust them Well... maybe not so much the twin-turbo V12, but that would be a good race.

I so need a ride in one of these monster HP cars. Right now I can only imagine what it must be like. I have been limited to mere mortal cars like stock modern Vettes, 911s, and of course my stock 928.

Oh well, a few more years of sorting my current ride and it is time for a supercharger.

Just drive 12 hours north to Green Bay. You will get to experience the monster HP and still be in a 928

3500 lbs / 500 rwhp = 7 lbs per rwhp can be had for roughly $20,000 total cost in a 928.
What's the power to weight ratio on the different Merc's and their cost?

The big Merc's bring a wealth of new technology that makes them a total package. Gearbox and diff are built to take the torque. Engine management that is a few generations better and more comprehensive than what our cars have. Traction and launch control that make the wicked accelleration possible by just pressing on the skinny pedal. No need to modulate based on the tire smoke anymore. As much as I like my 928, and it is a failrly nice one, I'd be quicker to drop money on a fully-sorted factory-warranteed dr.bob-proof AMG than on a stroker package that might cost $30-40k all in, and cut the value of this 928 in half.

Of course the Murph or DR SC packages are a lot less than a stroker, but they also risk the wrath of the smog ***** here in tropical kaleefornia. Now, do I really need one of the Merc black specials? Not for poking in L.A. traffic. A poseur car with the tuner wheels and a few badges goes just as well 99+% of the time, unfortunately. Maybe the years are getting ahead of me, but a turnkey reliable car isn't such a bad thing, is it?

Oh believe me I'd trade my 928 for almost any new AMG model...but since I can't find a dealer to take the trade I cling to my rationalizations
And while I do I also hunt the Merc's on the open road with a mix of envy and malice in my heart as I do my best to introduce them to a view of my backside and their rev limiter simultaneously!
