Dave--
I've been thinking for years that an array of white LED's around the glass rim of the headligts would make a pretty awesome-looking "city lights" look with the headlights still in the retracted position. Just glue them around the glass inside the housing and frame, wire directly to parking lights circuit or to fog lamps circuits. I use the fogs as auxiliary low beams and DRL's anyway.
Now, back to your normally-schedule thread topic!

Bob, that sounds a bit more ricey than I'd like. When I said Adam was giving me ideas, I just meant ideas for a photo. I like to keep the car simple. If I wanted lots of wiring that could go wrong I would have gone with an S4.
If you really like the idea of "city lights", maybe you could mount some neon ropelight either inside the bucket or around the headlight opening in the fender...

I opened up the bastard:

Looks like it was kinda hot in there
Glad my car didn't catch fire! After this, I scraped away the molten plastic but unfortunately the clicking mechanism didn't look like it was functioning anymore.
So... it's officially toast. Guess I have to order a replacement.

Ideally?
A shot of dark colored 928 at dusk with a barely discernable but interesting backdrop with a slight fog in the air. Headlights on, but in the stowed position like MGW-Fla stated, so you see the two beams shooting skyward.

Hey Atb, so you want me to put this fracked up relay back into my car and let it burn up again, let it melt a bit further? Eh... I don't think that's very good for my car dude :-)
from the looks of things I would guess that water was in the relay at some point, check above the CE panel for water tell tales from the blower box seal, and also check all of the other relays , as its a sure bet that others may also be affected
