Great story, 37 hours straight isn't something you'd even consider in the Yugo. Was you dad miffed at all that he didn't get enough left-seat time?

Glad you made it back OK. The winter driving can be a challenge in a car with so much torque, but you obviously did fine. Low ride height doesn't help either. I think I waited a good three months before getting mine up to original height, after having to dink and dodge for everything bigger than a cigarette butt in the road. Restoring the height magically cured the inner tire wear issue for me, since it toe'd back in as it came up.

Be sure to take plenty of pics as you do your own resto on the car. Mine came to me in the early-early days of digi cams so not as many docu-pics as I wished I had.

I picked mine up in Denver, and drove west to Los Angeles over a few of the same roads you drove. Couldn't wish for a better car in a place like that.

Enjoy your new toy. Sounds like it found the right home!

Hey Chris glad you made it home without any problems.
Thanks for taking the time to stop in Colorado.
For all that might want to see your new ride here is a teaser, I also posted this picture in the other thread.
Goodluck with your purchase, Stan

Was this car on e-bay at one point? If so the interior is amazing! Congrats on the purchase!

Congrats again on the find. Nice ending to the Found My 928 chapter! Cashmere interior is sweet.

Great road trip. Also, good to see that you took the bra off right away. I assume you were suitably warned about the whole bra idea...

Glad you got home safely and are happy with the car.

There are no spacers on front wheels. I agree the front ride height looks way low. If it is different from one side to the other, the camber may be way off side-to-side as well. This could account for the uneven front tire wear, as incorrect toe alone cannot do this (front toe is inherently self-centering). It could also account for the appearance of different offset. Hopefully that is all it is, otherwise you may have a front end dimensional discrepancy.

Looks like you have a few minor electrical issues and other minor things. The bezel around the ignition is a rubber piece you can order, at least on my 89.

Chris

That car has a fantastic interior! I can understand exactly what you mean when you mention that the interior really makes it something special! I agree, full leather is the only way to go in this car! Those that dont have it have no idea what they are missing!

As for the paint, if its original then a good detailer will be able to buff and polish it and will leave you with great results. I always prefer an original Porsche paintjob, even if it is 20 years old over a repaint of unknown quality. The 928 has some excellent paint on it, spend some time with it and it will look amazing!

I think this car was listed by Lowmiler on eBay before. Seems thai the PO had all the leather added to the interior IIRC. I remember it was very nice.

Well said, Ryan.

after resetting the ride height you should have the car 4 wheel aligned. as a minimum so the new sneakers dont wear out B4 their time

OK, maybe that is specific to the leather pod. The PET doesn't show it, so it must be integrated into the pod assembly.
