Although I'm not an expert, I will try to help answer your questions. What do you need to know?

Well if I was going to look at a car or some flare kits or components that someone was selling as say Koenig,How do I know that is the true manufacturer? And if there are claims to be say only 150 in the country, how do I confirm that? Are there part #'s or logos moulded into these kits? I guess what it is,is that I feel that a factory modified car would have more value than a say guy who bought the parts and did it himself sort of thing.I also saw that someone here has a Koenig car with a Koenig supercharger kit on it which to me was exciting because I didn't know they offered that.
I would like to know as much as I can about the 928 wide bodies as possible so as to make an educated decision when purchasing one.Ed.

I think that if I had the funds and desire to flare the rear fenders, I would make an effort to locate a wrecked GTS, with the rear intact and use the quarter panels. IMHO, that is the best look for the 928 The Strosek kits and others just do not look natural The BIG BUTT of the GTS seems to just flow. I'm not sure that there are very many wrecked GTSs, so this idea may be a little difficult to accomplish Good luck in your search.

150 is way too large number for number of widebodies made when counting all different tuners, let alone just Koenig. There is no way to confirm how many were made and how many still exist. Only way to confirm if kit was Koenig is to look what parts look like and how well made they are. Cheap knock offs look cheap on closer inspection while true Koenig should be good quality.

Koenig did offer SC kit but they didn't do it themselves, it was Albrex kit. Koenig used also Lotec for turbo setups in other models like many Ferraris but I think Lotec didn't do turbo setups for 928.

If you are buying it because you think it's worth something as a collectable, don't kid yourself. If you are buying it because you like it, who cares if it is a Koenig or a reproduction of a Koenig kit?

If you pass on it, please send me the info. I have always loved the looks of the Koenig widebodies. There are a couple of convertable Koenigs floating around that are super sweet. One was owned by MC Hammer and is red. The other is black. The black one was for sale in NJ a year or so ago but I don't think it sold. The owner wanted way too much $$ for it. There was possibly a 2nd red one in AZ a year or so ago. There was some confusion as to whether that was the old Hammer car or not. If so, the owner didn't know it's history and was very unwilling to send additional pics or info.

Thanks Vilhue, that was my assumption.
Fabio,Ifeel the same way,if I like it then I'll buy it.I believe that a true Koenig or Strosek modification done by them would have a much greater perceived value than say some half assed copy.As far as collector value,! It's only worth what someone is willing to pay.
The 89 Convertible which you referenced last year was a sweet car!! In my opinion not a $40,000 sweet car.I followed that car and the Hammer car last year and I think the Hammer car went for like 14-15K.The black 89 was canceled early by the seller claiming to no longer for sale.I think with the right add ons and 5spd. vs. auto and a supercharger or turbocharger would increase their perseived value.
If you have any contact info on any wide bodies please forward and I will do the same. Thanks Ed.

P.S Let's see some pics on yours if you don't mind.

I will do that. There are about 7 widebodies that I know of in FL alone. The one in my sig is a link. Click it to see its thread. I need to update the thread but you'll get the idea.

I have a lot of widebody pics on my website, but I am not an expert.
But it gives you a pretty good idea of all the different kits that were produced.

http://www.thedeathknight.com/928/Porsche928.html

I agree that at the moment these cars don't have much collector value.
But I understand why someone might want to have an "original" Strosek conversion.
If you wanted to keep the car in storage for 20 or 30 years, maybe it will eventually
have some value.

Mine has an AIR rear and front bumper cover but the "Testarosa" style side strakes and fat fenders were custome made. They were formed with foam and glassed over. I have removed the side strakes ( these were a couple of feet long, not inches like the strosek ) and added a vent into the fender just behind the door. I plan on utilizing the vent. I was going to run a cooler in there but there isn't a whole lot of room. I may run a small fuel cooler in the passenger side since the fuel lines run through there anyway. I am in the process of making some wider front fenders for this car. It's been a project that has been on hold for a long time. I have too many projects to stay focused on this. I did register and tag the car yesterday so that should get me inspired to finish it. Now I can take it for a spin without worrying about a ticket.

I'll try to update that thread soon.

The wrecked GTS is in Mass, could probably get them to cut the rear quarters off.
