To me, this is a $20,000 car as it sits. If it wasn't a Koenig style widebody it would be a $17,000 or $18,000 car. If it was a 5 speed you could add a few grand to both of those numbers.

To high regardless. With widebody, he is freaking dreaming! Needs another 1" (or more) spacer on those rear wheels...

I like that kit, probably my fav...Oh, I would delete that stupid basket hoop "wing" at the top of the hatch...it is not even in the right place (at least that is how it looks from the pics). Not a great color for that kit either.

So then for as long as it is a quality well executed install, you would say it adds 2-3k value to the car? And of course that's only for you who is a lover of these things,as the haters would say it de-values the car by more I'm sure.
I agree with your statement and would pay that for that car assuming ppi goes well etc.

Hi Ed,

Koenig did 2 styles for their body conversions. The early design (shown in black) was more rounded with flowing body panels, it was also copied the most by various kit makers.
The second brochure with the silver car shows the later style, it had sharper features and a slightly different look.

So you are the guy to talk to.Is there any markings or plaques or anything that says Koenig on your car or assorted parts? Was the supercharger done as part of the conversion or put on later? Was the conversion done by Koenigs Factory or Dealer or priately installed? Alot of questions I know, but there isn't alot of info out there.Thanks.Ed

What I have heard, is that if someone wanted the conversion done, they might ask the dealer to deliver their newly purchased 928 directly to Koenig for installation. But I don't think the factory ever installed or sold them. Either people dropped off their own private cars, or the factory would deliver cars directly there for conversion. But I am pretty sure it was never a "factory" option.

And I think once you went over to the Koenig facility, they would offer you whatever goodies they had available. "Do you want just the body kit? We have an additional supercharger option that is only $75,000 more! New interior? Custom paint?" I think the supercharger option was pretty expensive, so not many people got that. But the whole point is that they were a "tuner" shop. They would do whatever stuff you wanted to do...

Pierre, I don't have any money, but I'll trade you straight up! LOVE Fat Bully man!!!

OB...here are some more shots of the GT racer... It does have identical wheels on all for corners so you can rotate them for max wear. They are 16" X 12" Duralight mags. You can't even buy these things anymore! They are the original wheels that Mark Anderson had on this car when he built it and raced it back in the early '90's... I have stock S4 brakes on the car, any bigger and new wheels would be needed.

You can read all about the specs of the car here:

http://www.928racing.net/JamesMorrisonRacecar.htm
(thanks Stan for hosting!)

You can also see the progression of the race car build here (be sure and run the slide show in reverse order though):

No problem, I know, there's not alot out there. I've been searching for bits and pieces of info on Koenigs over the years to verify my car, and I still don't know everything... My car was imported from Germany in late 2000, all conversion work was done there, but the car has had several previous owners and is impossible to tell who did what to it. Copies of the original German title clearly state Koenig custom built the motor around 1991/92 timeframe (88 block with GTS crank and early GTS pistons without drilled oil return holes, and Albrex supercharger). It's reasonable to assume that Koenig also did the bodywork and interior, since the title shows the car having 17x13 rears/17x10 fronts, BBS RS wheels. But that's impossible to tell, its got the early style body design, but the body panels do not have any markings at all on them, its all handlaid fiberglass. Perhaps Hessank can tell if his bodywork has any I.D. markings. I do know Kerscher Tuning got hold of the car at some point also. Heck, for all I know, another German tuner shop could have installed the bodywork before 1991.

Koenig didn't do that many 928 conversions, they were and still are very expensive. It all depends on what the customer wanted; bodywork?, engine?, interior?, exhaust?

Thanks for the reply.Got any gratuitus(?) Pics to share?
Hessank, any chance you have markins or badging on your Koenig??
You would think that because of the value of these cars and the money these companies got for this stuff, they would want to brand it or something.Even if for prides sake.I mean Shelby puy his nake or branding on every Ford Mustang he touched, and now you have to be a millionaire to afford any of his cars or pieces that have his name on them!

The only badging I know of is the adhesive sticker/emblem that Koenig used. They still sell them via their website. You can see it picured in the above brosure on the early body style. I found this photo was from some magazine several years ago, the badge sits just prior to the rear wheel. I've seen them on the back end also.
