Ill call you old fashion. If you want to go faster, keep the engine in the max hp range at all cost! I thought i could do this with the stroker and all the extra torque. with no other changes I was 2 second slower! kicked it in into NORMAL GEAR and got the 2 seconds back, plus another second for the power.

I did drive Louies ITB setup a couple years ago...& like his dyno chart shows...he is NOT lacking in bottom end torque...but a 6.5L engine helps that a bunch too....

One thing I noticed today on my track shark with stock S4 intake is the ability to pull strongly at low rpms in a higher gear..granted its light (2800lbs) but I got my fastest lap times holding 4th gear, when in theory I could have dropped to 3rd to get better acceleration.... Call me old fashioned...but I love the wide powerband of 928's.....

Way cool Carl! Do you mind asking your son which modeling app he used?

I am anxious to get this manifold to the dyno too.
Lots of progress has been made, including:

the fuel cells are mounted

the DFU's are installed and wired

the fuel rails are made and the injectors are installed

the injector wiring harnesses are made and installed

the flywheel timing gear is installed, with pickup

What is left to do before I can get to the dyno:

plumb the fuel system

tidy-up the in-car wiring

make and hang the new exhaust

mount the new radiator and intercooler

mount and wire the lightweight alternator

Some fo these projects are not all beacause of the new manifold (as you can tell). But they gotta get done before I can go to the dyno just the same.

Here are some pics from this weekend.

Why two cells instead of one larger one??

One holds touline so he can raise boost to 25psi mid race...

I wondered how long it would be till someone asked me that.

I got out the crayons, here's my drawing:

Even with foam baffling in the tanks, (remember the foam baffle blocks "float" and are not tied down) the fuel still flows over to the outside under cornering.
Once the fuel load passes center-line of the car (like in a carousel turn) it has unloaded the inside tire and bad things happen.

With two tanks (connected by a -8 line) I can keep a lot more of the fuel load over the inside tire a lot longer.

The 944 GTR Fabcar Dave Klem 650 HP Transam car....had THREE fuel cells so much like an airplane they could trim out the car also allowed them to get all the fuel out of two to feed the third. I like to run a small tall cell being fed from a larger one so the lift pump on the big one can gulp air from time to time but the small tall one is always kept full and pressure is constant to the engine ntil you are completely out of fuel If you mount a low pressure warning switch on the line from the big tank to the little one it can tell you when the big cell is empty.

Interesting about the two cells.....it makes sense....

Since my track shark starves out on a regular basis below 1/4 tank using the stock setup, this seems like a good solution....what did you use...2 10 gallon cells?

did you ever figure out why? mine has never had an issue and i run it passed the reserve light. In fact i had a record going of consecutive races where the warning light came on with 2 laps to go.

Do you have the single pump or the intank pump + main pump?

Widow has the standard for 89 dual pumps....my 1st thoughts are the intank either doesn't work (it appears too) of the little rubber line is busted..but I can't think of how this would cause starvation??

I first notice the starvation coming out of hard left handers (2 & 6 at thunder) starting right around 1/4 tank...by the time the light comes on it is BAD...so bad that I won't try full throttle until the car has settled a bit... At 1/4 tank its a slight studder....but with the light on it can be nearly a complete loss of power for a fraction of a second....

But now that the fuel tank leak is fixed (leak at breather line on filler neck) I'll be able to keep it above 1/4 tank so it will be fine until I pull the pump to look at it....

Like I mentioned before, my '86 did this exact starvation when it was at 1/4 tank or less. Only happened on left-hand turns. My GT does not do this at all, and both fuel pumps and hose were replaced 3 years ago. The '86 only had the single pump. From my experience, I believe that if you have a healthy working dual pump setup, this will not happen.

I only have the single pump. i cant remember the pump number, but I think its the S4 pump. Didnt the early S4s have one pump?

(unless there is a second pump I dont know about ) how do you tell?
