One of the main concerns about powder coating is that it is very brittle. When the screws that hold on the side covers get tightened down, the powder coat can and does crack....it has happened to me. What are you guys that are using powder coating doing about this? William and I were discussing putting a small rubber O-ring or flat rubber piece between the washers and the powder coating.

Greg I used new bolts and washers, if you look at the washer it will have 2 different surfaces I put the edge side towards the bolt and the rounded side towards the powder coated surface that way the sharp edge of the washer is away from the powder coated surface and wont cut into it.
In fact i just took the side covers off to inspect them and there were only small marks from the washers no cracks or other damage

Thanks Chuck this work was done in 2005

That's a good idea for those that don't want the original black hardware that came with the manifold. The washers are captive on the original bolts and I don't think I can turn them over.

I don't like rubber there, maybe a thin nylon washer? Something not hard, but not squishy.
